Half Life, surprisingly. It has very little music but Diabolical Adrenaline Guitar drops at the perfect moment and makes you feel like you’re living in an action movie. 🤌

The XZ2 Compact running Lineage was my daily driver for years because of its small screen and flagship power & battery life. I imagine the XZ1c could hold up as a media player about as well as its successor.

Still salty that all cell carriers in my country refused to continue to support 3G calling on the XZ2c, forcing me to get a new phone which was inevitably bigger. HATE my big phone.

Mother 3 is my favorite game, but I’m still bummed this timeline didn’t get a fun quirky N64 graphics Mother game. Would have been interesting to see which style elements came through in 3D, which didn’t, and what new spins on things would have added to the series

Mother I feel like changed the way I view storytelling and RPG game design, like I use it as a mental benchmark for story-driven and/or turn based RPGs

I, a casual PC gamer, played it with a hardcore console gamer, and it was very fun overall

But BOY were there some shooter sections that absolutely dismembered me with my WASD-brain 💀

I second Portal. Technically it’s a “first person puzzle platformer” but it’s just so its own thing that it hardly feels like a video game.

My mom who hadn’t touched any video games since 80s arcade machines absolutely loved Portal

Roll jumping in Jak & Daxter. There was a whole area of Sandover Village that was inaccessible without it and I killed at least an hour failing to double-jump-spin over to it 🤬

I was pretty emotionally stunted and depressed as a teenager and had trouble crying even when I wanted to (it’s a horrible feeling, physically) so Earthbound and Mother 3 were therapeutic
