Novels

Dishonored: The Corroded Man
This takes place about a year before Dishonored 2, and POV characters include Emily and Corvo. I really liked this one. Especially how it expanded on the relationship between Corvo and Emily. Some neat character insights too. Emily is canonically a beefcake.

Dishonored: The Return of Daud
This one follows Daud during the events of Dishonored 2 as he looks for the Twin-bladed Knife. Really cool concept that is once again brought down by Daud and his Daud-ness. “Woe is me, I killed the empress! Who can I push this blame upon to heal the hole in my black heart?!”. I’m making my way through though. It does show a bit more of Gristol that is outside of Dunwall.

Dishonored: The Veiled Terror
I haven’t gotten here yet. It follows Billy Lurk after Death of the Outsider, and how she deals with the consequences of the ending of that game.

Dishonored is my favorite video game series of all time! I play that thing every year, lol. Love the stealth challenges and all the ways you can approach things. I really enjoy the sequels too, and this year I’ve finally gotten into the books. Fantastic game. Also they leaned heavy into the style, so 13 years later it still looks decent. Not nearly as aged-looking as “realistic” graphics from that time. Those still look decent too, all things considered. But stylized graphics tend to fit their current limitations better than pushing for realism.

And yet you didn’t capitalize Mario. Interesting.

Is this now a fight between random internet strangers? Are we supposed to use slurs? (JK, just in case)

Totally fair! Nothing can appeal to everyone, and I would never be accused of having average tastes. Loads of people seem to like Mario Cart Kart, but playing it makes me want to Kyle my way through a wall. I had just played Prey Mooncrash, and was jazzed up on the loop mechanic. If I played again I may feel differently.

I play every Dishonoured game every year, and Deathloop feels similar. It’s more like a new book from your favorite author, but in a different genre than they usually write in. Definitely feels closer to Prey gameplay wise (I also highly recommend Prey).

There is not as much interaction with the story NPCs, and there is less of a focus on stealth. I found myself murdering way more than with Dishonored. That said, I really enjoyed the powers offered in the game, the quick “restarting” of the loop, and the overall story was good.

Yeah, 100%. It’s just that usually when something like this gets a large-ish negative reaction it’s because people associate it with furries or some other “taboo” fetish/lifestyle.

I also find that furry stuff gets way more hate than it deserves (which is none hate). I say boo to that! So long as stuff is consensual and nobody gets hurt (who doesn’t want to, lookin’ at you BDSM), then let people enjoy things.

Side note: It’s hilarious how for years people were cheering on Captain Kirk for banging green alien chicks, but cat ears and a tail is a no-go. Cross-species stuff is cool so long as they’re from another planet? What if it was planet Yiff? On the topic of aliens, do we even know if Superman has a human-like penis? Maybe Kryptonians bust onto egg clutches, who’s to say?

Anywho, people are silly and really like policing other people’s likes.

Eh, I say let the furries have their fun. Like, they’re going to do stuff like this anyway. Might as well sell it to them.

Man, I remember playing the OG on NES. Didn’t know they remade it… And made it all anime lookin’? Neat. If you’ll excuse me, I must go and tidy my crypt now.

I recently picked up the Castlevania Anniversary Collection. For all the Metroidvanias I’ve played as an adult, I never really got too into them as a kid. Gotta make up for that at some point, lol. Symphony of the Night isn’t on there, but I don’t want to start mid storyline (I’m kidding). My biggest fear is playing Castlevania will just make me more impatient for the next season of Castlevania Nocturne.

Sweet, thanks! I loved the heck outta Blasphemous and the Ori games. I’d love to see another game in the Ori universe, it’s so pretty. Some of the others have been on my wish list for a bit. Might be time to crack one open.

Another not bad series is Guacamelee. I haven’t played the second one yet, but I really enjoyed the humor and gameplay of the first.

Looks neat! I’m terrified of the ocean though, lol.

Fully Ramblomatic has been Yhatzee’s IP since forever. He has a website under that name where he blogs about his games and books and such. Second Wind is big on creator owned IP.

I still see where you’re coming from, but this isn’t a new name just for this show.
