Well, fuck. At least we got Rogue Trader and the Pathfinder games before enshittification began.

I go through my subscriptions every couple of months and take off channels I don’t watch anymore / that don’t exist anymore.

I would guess he lost a decent amount of subscribers being basically in hibernation making a movie for 2 years.

“My kids are able to play someone else’s games, so games aren’t expensive for kids.”

…did you even read what you just typed?

You don’t even have to be that patient these days. I got Arc Raiders 3 weeks after release for 60% off, it was like $18.

I would rate this game so much higher if I wasn’t roadblocked from completing it by one bugged map that won’t launch.

If anyone’s ever going to be able to crack the secret to widespread adoption of VR, I think it’ll be Valve.

Over $100 billion in research and investment just to go “Nah, nevermind.”

STOP PRETENDING TO BE A RANDOM USER IN ORDER TO SELL THINGS

I think this might be the most insulting trend in current advertising. You’re not fooling anyone. Just stop.

How shockingly good for you.

I’m so happy you provided me this great advice in answer to my question.

Maybe you should have subscribed to “How Not To Be a Huge Ass on the Internet Quarterly”. A lot of people like it for the pictures, but I read it for the articles.

Like I replied to another comment, the Mac was necessary for work (art and music) and was light years ahead of anything else that can be obtained at its price point ($575).

Thanks for the Beelink rec, though.

Really interesting take, especially on the home lab front. I had honestly never considered a steam deck over a pi5, and I’m looking at also building a MESHnet system and stuff that I would need a Pi for.

Both new ones are excellent.

Not FPSs, but pretty much any strategy game set in either world war lets you play vs the US.

Company of Heroes, Steel Division, Hearts of Iron, Great War: Western Front, etc.

Of course, you’d have to play as Nazis or the Red Army, but there ya go.

Good shout with Cevo. One of the few angles I haven’t looked super deeply into is a Linux machine. Time to study.

Yeah, that’s unfortunately the conclusion I’m reaching. I was hoping there was an angle I hadn’t considered yet.

Maybe I’ll just give in and do a year sub to GeForce and then reassess prices next Xmas. I definitely can’t afford to build a new machine now, but a lot can happen in a year.

Sorry, but the Mac is for art and music. I make money with it, its non-negotiable.

Please point me to a comparable PC build that can be had for a total price tag of $575, since that’s what I shelled out for the Mac.

If you can’t, why did you even make this comment?

I upgraded from my 15 year old PC to one of the new Mac Minis at Xmas last year, thinking that I would be fine for gaming with my Xbox / Game Pass, and I would "skip a generation" on PC hardware. I have a small Steam / Epic library, but everything that didn't work on MacOS, I had a Game Pass version of. Fast forward a year. Xbox shit itself, RAM and GPU prices / 2026 outlook are dismal, etc etc What's my best option going forward for gaming? The only option I see right now is cloud gaming like GeForceNOW, but it seems like *such* a ripoff. Any advice? Edit- a lot of people are fixating on GamePass. I canceled my GamePass sub when the price went up. I no longer have it.
