I think shotgun slugs would be good loot from a werewolf, but they should be a junk item or a crafting item to combine with gunpowder and casings to make new ammo, not ready to use shells that’s just silly why does a werewolf have those?

Oh amazing, thank you, I’ll take a look at the docs this afternoon 😊

I’m not sure this is what I’m looking for, I appreciate it though!

I’m hoping for something where the only thing I need to have on someone elses system is DNS entries, ideally.

I know I can use duckdns to automatically update my dns entries when my public IP expires (residential conn), and I know how to handle setting up DNS entries themselves(I hate dns 😓) but I’m just not sure how to configure nginx or apache. As it stands the only “get this thing on the web” tool I’m actually proficient with is streamlit, which I can’t use with my selfhosted tools.

Anyone have a decent guide on migrating from CF tunnels over to a proper reverse proxy? I hate networking 😓

Re: xbox

You need drivers for it.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Gamepad#Xbox_Wireless_Controller_/_Xbox_One_Wireless_Controller

While the package names and how to install them will be different since you’re on mint, this section in the Arch wiki discusses your options for Xbox controllers.

Xone is the one I’ve needed instead of xpadneo to get the xbox wired headset working with them.

If you like Offset sticks, the Xbox elite series controllers are phenomenal, it will require additional drivers.

I prefer my sticks aligned, so I usually use my custom DS4 from scuf.

Sometimes I like my stadia controller, it just feels nice in the hands.

I hate the switch pro Controller, it feels… Off somehow.

For retro gaming I use an OG Xbox controller (custom USB bodge job) or my 8bitdo sn30pro+ while I like the 8bitdo, its bluetooth is Unreliable so I recommend using a cable.

Unofficial:

Minigalaxy and Heroic are both clients which support GoG

  1. Its 16, not 20, the earliest version “Cave Game Tech Test” was in May 2009.

  2. They’re still actively pushing updates, a really big one is scheduled for the holiday season. Additional biomes and mini-bosses were added last year with structures hinting at development plans for a 4th dimension. The lighting engine is being actively redone.

Minecraft is absolutely not gearing down into abandonware mode.

While their process is often lengthy, EA reps will go really far to help you prove you own an account to recover it and change the login info, over the phone at least. I’ve had to work with them recovering accounts several times because I never learn from a mistake the first time.

Honestly, last year I started a “tech reclaimation” period where I was reclaiming my time from corporate social media to free myself from the (as arctic monkeys put it) “endless stream of great tv”.

I’ve moved to selfhosting almost all my services and have gone back to physical media (except my digital backup library) for most games and movies.

The detox has been nice, I enjoy games again, I can experience boredom and all the inspiration that comes with it. Life is good. Disconnection is bliss.

Much of this specifically is devs implementing MSAA, which once upon a time was cheap, efficient, and looked fine. Nowadays with RT added into the mix MSAA just simply can’t function well on modern hardware, to the point where even city builders like Cities Skylines 2 will crawl to 14-15fps on low settings if you haven’t overridden the graphics pipeline to remove msaa and replace it with one that actually functions.

Strongly Considering going back to a Prepaid burner style and just carrying a laptop everywhere.

I don’t need to be that connected.

A STRANGE GAME. THE ONLY WINNING MOVE IS NOT TO PLAY… … HOW ABOUT A NICE GAME OF CHESS?
-Joshua/WOPR - War Games (1983)

Never talked shit about about Chris, love the guy, but its absolutely true that he partakes in the same clickbaity tendencies that lead us to this problem in the first place.

Downvoting requires you: A. Click into the video
B. Select the downvote button, thereby engaging with the video

The algorithm is not designed to feed you content you like, only content that will generate clicks and interaction. The only way to eliminate that content from your feed is to forcibly remove it, as they have designed the feed such that it is impossible not to interact with it.

Again, I suggest trying freetube as a frontend, as it allows you to retitle and rethumbnail clickbait videos, and remove shorts from your feeds, thereby eliminating the skinner box that is youtube from your life.

Youtube shorts.

Imagine you’re a gamer, one who is interested in game Design. Your view history has games, gaming, game design, but it’s also full of algotrash talking heads, scam baiters, shit slingers. You open the YouTube app on your phone, and it immediately opens to shorts, you don’t remember settings that as the default but it’s fine, you recognize the creator and the 45 second clip was neat. Swipe up. Next video, it Nile Blue dropping a beaker of chloroauric acid. Next video, its Chris Boden yelling about some kind of electrical infrastructure you don’t understand (and that’s pretty cool). Next video, Thor, speaking softly, explaining an aspect of game design that you never thought of. This one catches your attention, its in your wheelhouse, its something you’re genuinely interested in. You click the profile, swipe through a few more shorts. Your algorithm is permanently damaged. Your a pirate software fan now, whether you like it or not.

Or you can use freetube and never see algotrash talking heads in your feed and never enter into this cycle.

I know I’m not but that doesn’t mean that gamers wouldn’t benefit from more VRAM as well.

Just an example, Nvidia’s implementation of MSAA is borked if you’ve only got 8gigs of VRAM, so all those new super pretty games need to have their gfx pipelines hijacked and the antialiasing replaced with older variants.

Like, I’m not gonna go around saying my use case is normal, but I also won’t delude myself into thinking that the average gamer wouldn’t benefit from more VRAM as well.

AMD doesn’t know I selfhost generative AI models.

8GB is barely sufficient for my needs and I often need to use multigpu modifications to deploy parts of my workflow to my smaller GPU which lacks both enough cuda cores and enough vram to make an appreciable difference. I’ve been searching for a used K80 in my price range to solve this problem.

Is there a reason you were so hostile with your repsonse?

Second, according to this site which I referenced at the time of purchase for my TV, I’m at the appropriate distance for my screen size of 55 inches. The image is grainy at 1080p because a 4k screen has WAY more pixels to stretch the image over so at the recommended distance for a 4k screen you end up with a blocky image with chunky pixels. It’s fine, it’s not like its unplayable, but why would I do that when I can get just as good an experience (30hz display can only get pushed so hard) at 2k without overwhelming my hardware and have a better image as well?

I’m not a Hardcore gamer, I’m not trying to get 9000+ fps. I mostly play tetris and my ps1 on a crt. I want my games to look the way they’re intended to, they’re art projects and I like to respect them as such. Ergo, I play them at the highest resolution my hardware can support.

My gaming rig is also my media center hooked up to a 4k television. I sit around 7 feet away from it. Anything less than 1440p looks grainy and blocky on my display.

I can’t game at 4k because of hardware limitations (a 3070 just can’t push it at good framerates) but I wouldn’t say it’s a waste to go above 1080p, use case is an important factor.

I think the only thing that might save this game at this point is Randy leaving a copy on a thumbdrive at medieval times

I use a 5TB array of old HDDs for my gaming rig set up with LVM for expandability and raid 0 style striping for speed.

The longest game for me to load is Risk of Rain 2 coming in at about 3 minutes from launch to main menu, even cp2077 only takes about 2 minutes from launch to “in game”.

The thing you’ll notice most is your drives will slow down significantly as you start to fill them up, it takes longer to read data from the outside of an HDD than the center.

The advice part: Git you a couple high rpm high capacity HDDs, set em up in raid 10, have fun!

Newest steam survey shows windows installs down to about 97% of gaming rigs, down a percent from last year. The Steam Deck is doing the work to get devs onto more open platforms for release. More and more nails are added to the windows coffin every day, I suspect 2-3 console generations from now windows will still be dominant in the gaming ecosystem, but only barely.

I mean, Eric said this 2 years ago too so I’m not holding my breath for HC. Not complaining, a late game is good eventually, a rushed game is bad forever.

Sweetie don’t get mad just because you don’t understand tinker descriptions.

I didn’t suggest legal; I said “third party”.

“anadius (dot) su” has unlockers for the sims 4 DLC and an updater app to download it. Obviously downloading copyrighted material over clearweb is risky, use a VPN or at the absolute least some kind of proxy.

Depending on how you feel about sailing, there’s some decent “third party acquisition options” for the sims 4 that work with the official stores. I have the complete collection on steam, didn’t pay a dime.

Big fan so far, 11 hours in. Playing Linux native with no issues whatsoever, regarding bugs and the like. Regarding the UI, there are some places where the interface needs work. The diplomacy overview is inaccessible unless you’re being prompted about it, naval commanders state they require land units (they work with naval units), and the game has a general “in testing” feeling to it. Despite these minor flaws, I’m a huge fan. The new mechanics are quite fun, easy to break the game as well, from an exploit perspective (pretty sure following the tutorial shouldn’t net you hundreds of each resource per turn), whether this is intentional or not I’m not sure.

Regardless, I’m having a great time.

If you have a GPU with ray tracing hardware and at least 12gVRAM you should be able to run it albeit slowly at home
