It’s interesting to me that there is no thought at all to move to “neither”. Of course, that is what they count on, people not willing to give something so perceived important up.

I recently lost my phone for a few days. Until I found it, it was annoying, but life still worked. Of course, it’s a major drop in convenience, no doubt, but I would’ve likely been fine without either Android or iPhone.

If they start doing X I will go somewhere where they have been doing X for a long time! That’ll show them!

Same, my bank also doesn’t require strict play integrity. I think I ran into an issue with a dating app once, but that’s about it, and that’s no real loss.

If my bank would suddenly stop working on Android with microG (with no simple alternative), I’d just switch to another bank, there are enough.

Don’t use a fingerprint sensor anyway, law enforcement everywhere basically can force you to put your finger on it, they more often can’t force you to give out a password.

e os is not less secure than any other Android. Maybe Graphene is better in that regard but that’s literally the point of it. e should be fine for all normal Android usage.

If you buy a device right now, you get an immediate benefit, that lasts at least for the lifetime of the device. There is no change yet, and you’ll always be able to just not update to newer versions of Android that restrict sideloading. In case of Fairphone, that device is likely to last a long time.

There is no real risk in buying a phone right now. Only once infrastructure changes that drops previous wireless network technology (i.e. 5g), and the new wireless communication technology is not supported by your phone’s hardware anymore, is when you’ll run into problems. Or when apps require a newer version of Android, but likely you’ll be able to spoof that by rooting your phone and installing certain software.

Nucleus Coop (for Windows only unfortunately) makes lots of games that ordinarily don’t have offline splitscreen to work in that way.

You can play a lot of games splitscreen coop with nucleus including DRG, Windows only unfortunately.

There hasn’t been anything Google on my phone for a while now, so I’ll first wait and see how they regain control over my phone :D

I’ve never heard of this. Can you please give some kind of context?

Request the developers to change it. Or stop using the app.

Why are the apps involved such secrets? 🤣 Porn?

It may not be using androids URL opening functionality but directly opening the app itself, which is possible. Would be good to know the apps involved.
