“I want to have fun at someone else’s expense. I want them to have an absolutely miserable time and for me to be the one who’s making it happen. I’m a bully, you see”

It would be nice if those comments were moderated, but mostly what I saw in crunchy roll comments was straight up fascist propaganda. I’m in a place where I’m like… Not everything needs a comment section. I can take the criticism this makes me a crunchy roll bootlicker. I’ll take that L, but know this: we should all be pirating stuff all the time given how the big corporations treat our art and creations

I feel for the guy. Had health issues and needed money fast. I kinda don’t blame him. Like I get its disappointing and I also won’t blame people being mad at him, but I’m more mad at the overall system of how things get funding

I came across a website today that had on off toggles for all their stuff cookies. When you clicked the toggle the colors of the “x” and the check mark changed between purple and black. I could not tell which was off and which was on. It made me very angry

How else will i know which scam products that we’re built cheaply in a factory with poor conditions to spend my money on to have a fleeting sense of convenience that’s washed away as soon as either

  1. I get used to it and it becomes just another thing in my house, my monument to consumption
  2. It breaks because the company cared about making a good product just as much as they cared about providing livable conditions for their workers, which is to say not at all

???

Never do what a billionaire wants just because they want that. Always make it upsetting for them

It’s true. Its not a coincidence the most hostile telecom (Verizon) is also the one that had a former CEO as chairman of the FCC during the Trump administration. It would be very easy for OEMs to introduce more multiband phones to the market but Verizon has some sweet licensing deals on their network brands.

It’s mega gross!

Yeah most phones in the us are locked to a network. Some of them are unlocked to certain network vendors but won’t work with others (for example if a phone works on Verizon its a near guarantee even if its an unlocked phone it won’t work on any other networks)

Other poster was saying apps that are built around web content use Chrome’s webviewer component, and that tons of apps these days are react native, or whatever that Apache foundation tool is for deploying web apps as native apps.

Privacy and digital rights are not a binary “use strange hard to use tools or give everything to google.” There are things you can do to improve your ability to own your own data. Giving up immediately is letting perfect be the enemy of good. Running Firefox on your google phone will still win you back something

Oh I thought this was something new they were doing. Same old shit they’ve always been up to. Got it

I’d even like a ranking scheme like we have here on the threadiverse. Show me videos with a lot of activity, ones that have been showing a lot of promise, what’s been happening over the past 12, 24, 48, or 72 hours.

I guess what I’m saying is I want long form video content like YouTube to be delivered and ranked like comment threads on Lemmy and the older link aggregator(s)

G O O D. Their suggestion engine provides no diversity. Once you watch one video about something, that something is all they show you

I would like better ads. Not more personal ads. Just less intrusive ads for products relevant to the video I’m watching
