Also, what leverage do these groups have over banks and payment processors? If you have leverage over Visa and MasterCard, some of the most profitable companies in the world, I could imagine doing way more nefarious things than this. I just don’t get it. Some random group in Australia has leverage over Visa and MasterCard - American companies - is that what we’re saying here?

I think you might have too much faith in government. Facebook and YouTube shouldn’t be hyper-polarizing brainwashing machines either, but here we are 20 years later and governments have done jack shit to address that. If anything, we’re going the wrong direction - Governments are seeing that and the TikTok model as tools they can have at their disposal to suppress dissent. But ironically, I think YouTube and many other platforms quietly accept that if we want to live in a somewhat harmonious society, we can’t leave it to the government to make all the rules. (eg. YouTube banning vaccine misinformation and disinformation during a public health emergency.)
On a tangent here, maybe the only potential upside from this situation with Steam is that horrifically misogynistic waifu simulators aren’t going to be 1 click away from the new Call of Duty. Seriously, Steam is just full of super gross anime shit that kids shouldn’t see, but the main audience of the platform is kids. The way Steam puts that content beside everything else is really gross and they really should get called out for that.

This law sounds good in theory, but there’s a lot of lawful content that is really undesirable (scams, spam, deepfakes, hate speech, etc.) and platforms need to be able to deal with that. The law isn’t fast or flexible enough to keep up, and every country has different (or laughable) definitions of some of these things.

Pretty much any game newer than Quake 3 uses what I referred to as unlagged, which is now known as backwards reconciliation or lag compensation. You only need to shoot where you actually see the player to be.

This drives me nuts in The Finals as well. I also really want to know what my opponents’ pings are, because sometimes it feels like they’re exploiting the unlagged netcode with high ping. Edit: And don’t give me a little 3 bar signal strength graph - I need numbers.
FYI also in case you didn’t know, the sniper rifle for light in The Finals is hitscan up to 40m away, then after that it has travel + bullet drop. This was introduced in a patch about 6 months ago. (I don’t think the Pike for medium is hitscan at any range… someone correct me though)

I tried to repair my DeathAdder but I had the soldering iron too hot and I destroyed the contact pad under the microswitch. 💀 I tried to take some solder mask off the trace and bodge it but I made such a mess that I just gave up on it. With better desoldering technique, it would have been straightforward. Lesson learned!

I actually liked the DeathAdder and have had almost 3 of them. I just mainly meant to knock their build quality.
But that said, the lifespan of all mice is kinda bullshit. I haven’t had single mouse last more than a year in almost a decade. Either the left click starts getting glitchy or the mousewheel’s encoder starts to go. I’ve used Logitech, Razer, Microsoft, Xtrfy. My Xtrfy M42 wireless’s left click is starting to get inconsistent now (holding LMB will randomly release, and the microswitch is bouncing on click).

It’s just another reminder what a greasy company Razer is. They should be avoided because their products are mostly crap, sold at high prices. I remember taking apart my Deathadder about 8 years ago after the left-click went on the fritz, and it was the crappiest, low-quality PCB I’ve ever seen in a product. I never bought Razer again after that.
Edit: To elaborate, they could have spent like 5 extra cents to get a nicer PCB, but they didn’t. The mouse was really nice on the outside, but they cut every expense on the inside.
I could be wrong here, but I think the common interpretation here is wrong. The risk is not that the wires overheat and cause a fire. The risk is that the card draws too much current from a single 12V power rail on your PSU, sustained for a long time, and that burns out the power rail on your PSU.
I have a 6950 XT that I used with a 850W PSU that was connected incorrectly according to the diagram, with multiple connectors coming off a single rail. After about 6 months, one day my SSD stopped working, and after some tinkering, I realized that if I plugged it into a different 12V connector, it started working! I had burned out one of the 12V rails on my power supply, and I strongly suspect it was my incorrect wiring into my 6950 XT that caused it. (edit: I got a new PSU and never looked back)

This looks like absolute garbage from the trailer, lol. The most bland art style, characters without character, terrible CGI in the trailer with bad animation and lack of effects… why even put this out? Gotta show the investors you’re doing something?
If this is how bad the CGI trailer is, I can’t imagine what the real game is going to be like…
I’m a huge Doom (1/2/3/2016) fan but I’m not sure how I feel about this. Eternal just seemed like more or the same so I never even bothered playing it. The Dark Ages is starting to feel a little too Anime and just outside the whole space-based Doom universe. This just doesn’t seem like Doom to me and the gameplay looks like more of the same basically from the trailer.

Steve/GN strikes me as the annoying guy who just waits you for you to make a mistake and then shouts GOTCHA and makes a video exposing why you’re an idiot to the world. There’s just this weird antagonistic tone/vibe I always get from Steve’s video. (IMHO LTT and GN are both great at what they do, and that’s why they’re both successful.)
Edit: this is also a “there’s no such thing as bad publicity” situation. GN makes a 44 minute long video about this (lol) and I’m sure LTT will make at least one reply video. If they go back and forth, it’s just more content and clicks for both of them. Win win.
The original AC was good for (imho) it’s road feel and huge quantity of user content like tracks, cars, and mods (SRP and LA Canyons are great.) The overall product itself was really amateurishly produced IMHO (eg. shitty launcher) and inconsistently polished, although everybody looked past that because the in-car experience was better than anything else at the time and the mods make AC a blank canvas. Whatever you wanted to get out of AC, you could do with mods, and there’s no other racing game with that flexibility. That’s why everybody loves it.
The broader physics in AC never really did it for me, as a Dirt Rally fan. BeamNG is at the cutting edge of physics and playability, and going back to AC physics from BeamNG is pretty tough. That said, I am super excited there’s a new rally game and will definitely pick this up if it’s half decent. With a little love, I’m sure they could do a make their physics model feel decent for rally. I hope they have some decent damage modelling because AC’s poor damage modelling made even tiny impacts totally unphysical (imho).
(I haven’t tried AC Evo or AC Competizione though so it’s possible the physics model has been improved… can anyone chime in on that?)
