One suggestion that comes to mind is the elder scroll’s series, morrowind in particular had a good crafting system with poition brewing and stuff like that. Do not know how oblivion is holding up, becauseI never played it much, but scyrim was a lot simpler and might not fit your description.

Another game that might scratch that itch, although in a completely different setting: the X-series. It is a giant space rpg, where you start with a small ship an can work your way up to a giant space empire (if you put in a lot of time). You can mine asteroids, trade resources, or fight pirates.

On the one hand I see the reason for criticism, when a person that apparently never touched a video game becomes a XBOX CEO, on the other hand does her account really read like a real one, and I think this is great. I think there is nothing easier for an Xbox CEO than to have a fake account created going back 20 years and showing thousands of hours of gaming or have somebody game for you Elon Musk style.

This reads like someone that is actually preparing for the new role she has to fill and making her own gaming experiences and listening to community feedback.

Is it as good as having someone as CEO with a long history in gaming? Probably not. But I think this might be the next best thing.

Back when the original released it was a great RPG with a great story and a world that felt alive, compared to most other RPG that were on the market. The world was open to explore from the begining without any safeguards to run into strong monsters, which helped the emersion a lot. The controls were strange, but worked somehow, when you got used to it. Combat was challenging and the leveling was rewarding, because you got notably stronger. I hope the remake is good and translates these strength into the modern age.

So you are not looking forward to the new CopilotBox by Microsoft?

If you are talking about the golden knight, you meet after emerging from the dungeon: yeah, this one is really hard and you can skip him until much later.

There is a small tutorial area, that is easily missed. After spawning into a new game, there is a big hole in the ground, jump down there (I think there is a guy or a message telling you to do it) and you learn the basics about fighting and other mechanics. Also with an adequately challenging mini boss at the end.

Is the next console generation already launching next year, or is it just the xbox? Does seem like yesterday, when the ps5 released…

Same for me. The start of the game was great. The difficulty just right. But most of the new characters are too strong. I stopped playing after I unlocked the duo upgrade, because there was simply no challenge left. I enjoyed it long enough to still recommend it for the price, but i feel like there is so much of the game left and I am somehow sorry I will never play it…

Same for me. In the moment I left the starting dungeon I lost all interest in exploring the world. Tried it 3 times over the years and never progressed further. I am wondering if the remake might be different and worth another try… I heard so much good about oblivion that I really see me enjoying it.

I don’t know much about in-game purchases, but as long as i can remember, it was possible to register cd keys from other stores or even the keys from hard copys of games. To me this looks like a totally different thing than what was going on with ios and android. Also a little wild for epic to complain about locking out competition when i am still waiting to purchase Allan wake 2 on any other store than epic…
