Unfortunately that’s not going to help most people.

It will. Maybe some minority live in a crazy fascist regime where they are strictly network monitored, but most people can download demo versions without problems.

99% of the games have demos. Except for ones with denuvo or similar shit, but you shouldn’t play them anyway.

Reviews are the least important info. If you like the theme and screenshots/video looks nice enough to you, then download the demo and test it yourself. If it’s good then it is good, if it isn’t then no GOTY-awards would change that.

Most of the games have a demo version. You just need to look up in the right place.

Oh, I’m sure Nintendo will grant me plenty of possibilities to improve this joke until the excellence :)

At this point, after all nintendoing Nintendo did, people still give them money. And who is the crazy in this situation?

plague tale

I believe I have tried it. Until the first boss, where I was forced to run around him and try to dismantle his armour piece by piece with a sling and stones. Of course he caught me while having the last piece of armour on. Uninstalled and never even considered giving it a second chance.

The game has red-yellow-green health scale, not 0-100%. It would have taken too much effort to experiment while looking for the correct value.

Fiddling with the script engine can lead to unexpected results.

I am a programmer myself and have an overall understanding of what can happen unintentionally. I don’t see how adding a few medkits in the inventory could lead to the boss to jump over the puddles :)

And which game was it?

“Fear the spotlight.”

Sometimes devs intentionally punish players for struggling with the game
Situation: Game. Typical horror. You know the rules: "no weapons, hiding under the tables, occasional puzzles". But the game was nice enough for me to play it. Until the final boss. Many horrors/adventures still have bosses, but the fight is more puzzlish than just shooting and running. In this case I should lure the boss in the electrified puddle and manipulate with it; and repeat it 3-4 times. After dying 3-4 times, I started to look for cutting-corners-way. I have found the developer console and it had some options that should make things easier. And you know what? After I increased my health, the boss became literally unkillable. Next time I added a few "medkits" to my inventory, the boss just started avoiding electrified puddles at all. All experiments led to the situation becoming even worse. I believe that developers made it intentionally. Just for the sake of "fuck you, shit" What could I do? Uninstall.
