Security did an audit of everyone’s usage into our network and determined that no one was using Linux, so no reason to keep it unblocked. Most users used Windows and some used macOS, but no Linux usage seen, so why not just block it to close off one possible vector. If you try to connect using Linux, even with the right credentials and MFA, you’ll get a block message that your device is not allowed. I had been planning on switching full time to Linux, but hadn’t yet otherwise my usage would have showed up on their report and they might not have blocked it.
The security at my job is very tight. Most things are blocked unless there is a specific need or use for it. The head of security is very strict on access and keen to block things until multiple people cry for it to be unblocked and for a reason he agrees with.
As part of the larger project of blocking access, he blocked most personal devices to access our systems. My team was excluded with some heavy deterrents to it and an agreement for us to use company managed cloud PCs for all the work we do. Myself and others don’t want company devices while we work from home and prefer to use our own devices so this was part of the compromise.
I honestly probably could have made a stink about it, and maybe not even that much effort since I have a friendlier relationship to the head of security than others, and we may have kept Linux unblocked, but I decided to just go along with it and get a Mac instead. The policy has helped in ensuring unauthorized access is kept to a minimum. We routinely get targeted by malicious parties and our users are often getting tricked by phish and malware campaigns (even with training and routine simulation tests on the users), so I can’t exactly blame him for choosing this.
TL;DR: Just one less thing to worry about.

They don’t care. Their job is solely to provide you with access to their cellular network. As long as you keep that tied to one device (and don’t phone clone, meaning share that access with multiple devices), they don’t care.
If you’re leasing your phone from them, then I guess they’d care but really only when they get the phone back. It would be best to put everything back to stock when that time comes. Of course this means you’ll want to take care to install only what you’re comfortable with and what you know works and won’t permanently damage the phone.

All my life and I never looked it up to see why they were called that.
Also always wondered as a kid about that Italian guy in the California Raisins VHS I watched on repeat and now that makes sense too https://youtu.be/aPCOfuXYRhs at 13:08 mark. The full thing is still great to watch, if anyone is interested. I apparently busted a few couches dancing to this as a kid lol

Oh it goes deeper than that.
Check out their FAQ. They’re cool with the dehumanization of males too. They’re only advocating for “dehumanization” against females.
A game about torturing women? Unacceptable.
A game about torturing men? Acceptable 👍
They mention some bullshit about how one happens more often and the other doesn’t so that justifies being hypocrites.

This organization is nuts.
This is from their FAQ:
Why don’t you include men in your mission statement? It’s not right to objectify men either.
A:
While both men and women can be sexualised, it is primarily women who are being objectified, and women who are far more likely to be negatively impacted by it as demonstrated earlier.
When men are sexualised in media and advertising, they are not typically demeaned, portrayed as decorative objects or posed as vulnerable and submissive in the ways that women are. Men are also rarely dismembered and presented as a collection of sexualised or individual body parts. Instead, men are depicted as hyper-masculine and strong. The sexualising and objectifying treatment of men may serve to enhance their power and status rather than to reduce it.
Having said that, we do not support ‘equal opportunity’ objectification. We encourage individuals to speak out against objectification including when men and boys are subjected to it.
I kept wondering why their focus was only on “girls, girls, girls” all over the place and everything was pink.
So media involving the dehumanization of men is totally cool with them. A game about raping men would be totally fine and no issues there because it’s not “typical”. Just don’t do anything to the girlys.

As if the sexualization of men doesn’t have a negative impact on men as a whole…telling men that the only way to be sexy is to be masculine and strong isn’t at all damaging to them? How does that make any bit of fucking sense? Not all men can live up to those unrealistic depictions with a 6 pack and big muscles nor should all men aspire to be that.
The fuck is wrong with these people…

But people forget about the DLC that is expected of the consumer to buy for the “full experience”. Some games don’t have a complete story if you don’t buy the DLC or you can’t access all the features without DLC, such as multiplayer games that don’t let you play with your friends if you don’t have that specific DLC pack.
So not only is it a $70 price up front, they also want you to spend, at least, an extra $30 on the new DLC season pass or buy the DLC separately at a slightly higher cost over time. Also not including the special edition packs with extras, either physical or digital, that add to that initial $70. Ubisoft is the biggest asshole in this space, going as high as $120 for a day 1 release.
That Spider-Man box for Gameboy Advance gave me serious nostalgia. I never owned the game but I think because I saw it dozens of times behind the glass at Walmart growing up. I haven’t seen it in years. Back when they had the controllers out so you could stare up and give yourself wild neck pains from playing games while mom shopped.

This is me on nearly every level.
But my little sister just ends up getting drunk, eating all the food and falling off the boat hahaha. So we put her ass in the jail sell till she sobers up.
When I first read this, I thought your sister was doing this IRL lol
My brother and I played a few times, but he’s not into it.
I like playing alone sometimes but then it gets boring and repetitive playing by myself. I’m not into PvP either so I’m okay with meeting AI enemies, but as soon as another human comes around, I usually noped out because I just don’t want to be bothered.
Game prices? I understand the Nintendo cult is always stiff. But for the last 10 years these people bitched about $70 games. And now they are just throwing excuse after excuse defending $80 games now. But the lie I’ve been hearing is “Sony has been selling $80 games since the PS5 came out” No… No it hasn’t. There is not one base PS5 game for $80 ever made.
I’m very much against this and always have been, but I think not everyone has been. Some people will buy these games at any cost, especially when it comes to Nintendo and children. Children don’t understand the true costs and parents just want a happy kid and think it’s not that bad of a price for their kid to be happy. Most probably don’t pay attention to the price to see that it once was $50 and now is $80 for the new games.
It’s infuriating for me because my boycott effectively means nothing when these people exist. But no matter, I’m happy with my PC and waiting on emulation when it comes to play these games.
I have a hard time trying to determine whether I like 3 or 5 more, myself. 3 was my first FC game I ever played and I fell in love with it. So much innovation at the time and a really good story to complement.
5 is similar in a lot of ways. A lot of new stuff was added, like actual helicopters and now planes, which added air warfare to the game in even more fun ways. Plus the companions. So many to choose from and such fun characters to have alongside you, including animal companions, which was really awesome. A fucking bear and cougar following alongside you was so badass. The story was great too. Something that was a bit different than a warlord but still a psychotic maniac. Probably also helped that the setting was closer to home for many of us and some of us find that more fun.
The map was also great. Very large and a lot of things to do. I loved how it separated it between 4 maniacs and not just one too. 3 bosses to fight and then the main villain.

It’s ironic considering their early days in gaming. They were targeted by Universal over a BS lawsuit for using “Kong” in Donkey Kong and him being a gorilla like King Kong.
Now they’re pulling the same crap on smaller people/businesses and also working with the very company who did the lawsuit to bring their games to the movies.

I hope they don’t change the architecture of the machines too much. A lot of them seem like decently priced Linux machines with some tweaking.
I always love that all of them charge via USB type C, which is still not a standard for Windows laptops.
I just can’t get around that stupid AI key that should be the caps lock. Also hate that the computer turns on when you open the lid and no way to turn that feature off.
If you already have a Xbox/PlayStation/Switch controller, you can also use that. There are very cheap mounts you can buy for each of these controllers for ~$10 USD that will allow you to hook up to your phone seated on top of the controller. You might even be able to 3D print a mount too.
It’s not nearly as comfortable as this is (though you could say it is because the controller, itself feels better in the hands, but I’m talking viewing angle) but it’s a lot cheaper and doesn’t require buying a new, dedicated controller.
Not knocking your suggestion, OP. Just providing a secondary alternative too.
