Honestly, with how Kojima left Konami in the middle of the production of mgs5, pretty sure Kojima just wanted to make something other than a mgs game. With mgs5, he made one of the best stealth simulators hands down. But, it felt the least like a ‘mgs’ game, especially a ‘snake’ game. I could definitely feel death stranding vibes from it though.
That’s my guess why he ditched David in mgs5.
Pretty sure he was just sick of only making the same games over and over. Especially after he made 4 since it is obvious to me that he put everything he had into finishing the story of mgs.
He was itching to make death stranding for a long time imo.

I have such a nuanced opinion of Nintendo.
I would prefer to pay for high prices to a company that has the reputation of “consistently fun no matter what (unless its online)”.
Why? Because I am tired of paying a ‘good’ price for other media (or any goods/services) with a bunch of hidden aggressive enshitification. I know that when I buy mario kart, I am getting mario kart.
Can’t say the same for most other stuff, especially AAA video games. Nintendo might ask for high prices, but they deliver their product. And that is what I was promised in a capitalist economy, but rarely get it. So I am ‘happy’ as long as Nintendo doesn’t screw me individually.
BUT!!!
Fuck Nintendo for what they have done historically to the smash community. I won’t forget.

Love Kojima. Will play anything he makes even for a little because of his legacy.
I am really trying to get into games blind, especially a Kojima experience, but can someone tell me if this is looking like a ‘true’ Death Stranding 2, as in, the same overall game play loop of delivering packages and finding human connection in the world?
Well… to me this seems awfully close to “stop hitting yourself problem”.
Why are you looking comments everywhere? Do you really need that information to make a decision? Is it so bad to play a bad game now and then? I don’t see a problem, because this problem is easily avoidable by not going to social media for opinions.
Or am I missing the point?

My partner and I have played 4 hours so far. It is definitely a good game, feels smooth platforming wise. Also isn’t ‘easy’ (casual gamer standards) since it has a lot of different types of gameplay that they throw at you and makes you think on your feet. For instance, my partner (who is a gamer, but only for certain genres) had trouble with flying/driving in some sections.
So far a 5/5 game. I did come across some bugs, but nothing annoying or game breaking. Just funny ‘hiccups’ like sticking to objects that can be fixed by just button mashing or something.
You could make that argument, but I dont buy it.
I think the real official reason is because Kojima wanted an actor, not just a voice actor, for motion capture.
Also Kojima secretly just wants to be a movie director.
