the hateful transphobic shithead behind retroarch

Brand new concept to me, we cant have anything nice.

Follow on question : would it be enjoyable (or even possible) just 2 players?

I only have one friend…

Like when you look at the list of custom games, instead of just being weird and wonderful game modes and “chill no kill VC 18+” there was also “regular overwatch being played by regular people”

They had the Kinect which (ignoring all the negative press surrounding it) fucking slapped, and could easily have been integrated with a VR headset for full-body VR.

They have Blizzard which im pretty sure means they can put WoW on xbox but don’t even seem to have started.

They’re positioned to have the greatest console of all time and they’re just fucking around instead. It’s maddening.

Its weird how annoying the battle pass system is. On the one hand I get it, they want that sweet battle pass money that everyone else is getting, and I don’t really care about cosmetics anyway.

On the other hand, I paid full price for 1, and was willing to pay for the PvE, and it feels like they just said “fuck you pay me” out of nowhere.

I really wish there were custom games where they just play like quick play. I do believe its one of the best games out if not for the players. You either meet Sweaty Eddie who’s on the mic telling you to kill yourself because he thinks youre not winning hard enough, or the guy who thinks the game is to stand there and spam “hello” and the dance emote at the enemy.

I very very rarely get a game where people are just playing the game and enjoying themselves.

Im completely oblivious to any of the enshittification, but like any online game the fun is long gone for most people. Skill floor is way too high. As soon as you join a match youre completely outskilled by everybody and its clear youre nothing but a hindrance to your team.

Your opponents laugh at you and style as hard as they can and your teammates resent your existence, assuming they stick around long enough to make it clear.

Hyper-competitive games are fun for about 3 months and then youre either in or out.

Vandal Hearts on PS1. I think its probably not as good as I remember, but I was a small child and it said the word “Bastard” and that was the most adult media I’d been (unknowingly) allowed to consume. I played that game hard.

Im going to nominate one of these little guys

  1. That scared the crap out of me as a child. Absolutely no warning that it was coming.

Also its not anywhere because the company that made it doesnt exist any more so technically nobody has the rights to sell it. There’s going to be a lot more legal technicalities than that but that’s basically it.

Mega Man is a pretty sweet example, explained by this blast from the past.

Im going to need to go back and try it again, I don’t think i gave it enough time. I failed (because of course I did) about 5 times before giving up. Its a neat concept but it didnt get its hooks in me like everyone else says.

Without fullt spoiling it, does it have some kind of twist in it that I didnt give it a chance to do?

I sometimes wonder what I casually believe because I read it while scrolling for something interesting. I don’t have the time or inclination to fact check every single detail I come across.

Fable 4 if it’s getting a mention. It’s the only game I’m actually excited for any more.

The only games I truly enjoyed these days have been unexpected indie hits that are impossible to predict, you don’t know theyre coming or good until they happen.

I don’t know why Fable is immune to my thickening shield of apathy, but basically every other game I see I just think “yeah it looks pretty but I’m pretty sure I played it 20 times before”

Im relying on sts2 to break the grip for me. I kinda wanna be “STS2 sucks, it’s not as good as the original they ruined it somehow. Also why would I ever bother playing STS when 2 is out? Better find something else to obsess over”

Maybe even get Xbox gamepass on it.

Im honestly not sure why they’re making a handheld Xbox after their “everything is an xbox” push. Why have just an Xbox when you can get anything else PLUS an Xbox for likely cheaper?

My suggestion was Red Alert too, but from 3. I will never know the words, but the tune lives in my heart.

Its the same with music and films. They were so much better in the past and here’s the examples. Not included in the examples are the thousands of songs and bands that didn’t stand the test of time.

Mine still exists for almost exactly the same reason. Its excellent tech and it can be used for great things. One day I’ll learn how to do stuff like that and then I’ll be as a god. I mean not today obviously I got stuff to do I’m a busy man, but one day. Probably. Its nice to dream.

Yeah as much as I dislike the business model of microtransactions in modern games, and fortnite is the most popular and blatant example, they’re also pretty much the gold standard in how it should be done.

I’m pretty emotionally ambivalent towards it. I both dislike and respect it at the same time.

by moving to the competitor

That’s where I am with the Xbox. I’m pretty happy with it and don’t want to switch over, but the massive digital catalogue I’ve accrued would make me really hesitant if they start shitting it up.

I corrected my mistake and am still getting told about it. The most innocuous of mistakes in one of the lowest stakes locations and topics available.

I meant they because it wasn’t specified in the headline, but you can’t win them all.

If he’s¹ on the case like properly I’ll be a happy camper. There’s been a couple of actually enjoyable mobile games from netflix.

¹They’re²

²She’s

I’m the opposite, I don’t give a monkeys about the story but I like the loot goblining.

That said a borderlands came on the gamepass the other week and I was so excited to lure my boy into co-op with me for the first time in ages. It wouldn’t stop crashing. I googled it to see if they were aware and all I could find was the company sucking it’s own dick about having already released the final patch to stop it crashing so many times. I wouldn’t say I’m thrilled about the idea of dropping $80 on a day one release.

Feels weird to be talking about next gen Xbox already, feels like we only just getting the supply issues of the Series sorted.

Could you elaborate a little more? Like do those countries not allow subscription services or something?

Only reason i can think of with my rational, non-global-economic brain is that it’s got too much gory/sexual/political/whatever content that isn’t worth the effort censoring.

Legend has it the original Worms was similar. The DRM was a notepad readme that basically said “share me with your friends but buy a copy if you really like it please”

I’ve only pirated old stuff, games from my youth that are collectible items now for silly money or a complete crapshoot on whether 30 year old tech has stood the test of time.

If I had the time to play them I would definitely see my conscience clear on pirating new stuff from them now.

As far as I understand patent law, if nobody has actually patented something someone can just say “mine lol” and scoop up royalties and block shit for spite.

That sounds to me like “ain’t gonna happen mate but I don’t want to upset you”.

Which I’m kinda happy about. All the updates to stardew have been free and I want more. More. MORE.

Repetitive and grindy

It’s working out good for me personally. Between that trend and having gamepass. I don’t have much time to game any more, so can barely get past a tutorial before real life steps in. By that point I feel like I get it though so it’s OK.

I want to see pokemon red/blue/yellow absolutely fully maximum modernised. I want to go through the world in VR. I want to throw the poke balls into battle for real stashed on my belt. I want to be able to yell commands to a living, breathing pokemon dancing around in the arena.

I’ll still want it, I’ll feel a strong sense of FOMO if I don’t, but I don’t really care any more. After seeing how much money GTAO was making I strongly suspect they’ll put a lot more focus on that. In my opinion gta online sucked a lot of ass. It was fun as a playground to hang around with friends in, but as an actual game I’d rather we’d have agreed on any other game to play. I would never load it up to play by myself.

I hope I’m wrong and the story mode slaps, but at the super-premium price it’s going to end up costing i won’t justify it.

I’ve installed Myst around 10 times and I haven’t gotten anywhere with it. I refuse to look at solutions because its a legendary puzzle game and I will not be beaten by it, but also I’m not at all sure what to do at all. I have never solved a single puzzle. I’m never even sure what’s interactive or not, or if I’m even looking at a puzzle or just seeing clues where there are none.

I should try it again soon…
