Agree with this - I wanted to love Hollow Knight so much, and there was a lot I did love about it, but I really struggle with that specific type of 2d platformer.

Good for you! For GTA VI, I definitely wanna play it as quickly as possible and £70 is a pretty reasonable price for that.

I’m responding to a comment assuming it’ll be nothing but a “pay to win” game, despite any real evidence of that - I’m pointing out the expectations of GTA VI.

This sub is like Reddit on steroids. Just a bunch of contrarian kids trying to start arguments on the internet. Bizarre.

It’s certainly going to be interesting how this game is received. Rockstar is one of those studios that burns all its goodwill with things like Online, the “Definitive” editions, RDR2 Online closing early, yet despite that it’s the largest studio with one of the largest, most successful franchises.

With the industry being so dire right now, where only huge behemoths like rockstar, or tiny efficient indie studios, can really compete, the outcome of GTA 6 might be quite consequential for the industry.

The article you’re commenting on is literally about the game’s unsustainable hype and its impact on the industry.

It won Most Anticipated at TGA.

This is far from my favourite series, just enjoy shining a light on insane takes on Lemmy!

Huh? For £70 I’m getting -

  • Huge open world
  • Very fun and emergent gameplay
  • Likely a world with multiple competing systems and subsystems to play with
  • Incredibly detailed world to get lost and immersed in
  • Given the RDR2 writing, likely a really well written story

But you’ve decided to latch onto one aspect of the previous game (the Online mode) to try to be as contrarian as possible?

I sure as heck will pay £70 for the above. And so will many millions of others. Sorry if that does a poo on your hate-train.

Well since you’re posting “they want $100 for this” so matter-of-factly, you seem to believe that you can predict the future, Andy.

Are you seriously questioning whether there is any hype for GTA?

GTAV Online may have hindered Rockstar’s goodwill for fans of the single player mode, but the Online mode rakes in cash.

RDR2 released in 2018 and is widely considered one of the best single player games with one of the best open worlds, strongly signalling to fans that Rockstar hasn’t lost its mojo.

GTA VI is, unquestionably, the most anticipated game of the year. To suggest otherwise is to be insanely disingenuous on your part.

I just don’t have the patience to wait even more. I have a PS5, so why wouldn’t I play it on release??

Fixed an issue that caused the screen brightness to oscillate between an app-specified brightness setting and the automatic, system-specified or user-specified brightness settings.

This bug appeared in the stable March update on my Pixel 7. I assume we’re expected to wait until the April update for this fix?

Love their docs. The one about Outer Wilds is a real treat.

Hopefully you will learn not to generalise so brazenly in future ;)

RCS is an open, standardised protocol implemented globally by the GSM. It isn’t beholden to an American company at all? The GSM takes advice from third parties (like the implementation of MLS) but acts independently. Yes, Google had a huge hand in the design and implementation of it but Google doesn’t own the standard protocol.

Not sure if you’re just joking… but it is vastly, vastly better than using a messaging platform owned by a for-profit company like Meta.

So because nobody in your life uses it, it doesn’t need to exist? What?

Are you the most important person on the planet, or just incapable of thinking that other people’s lives might be different to yours?

The point is to take the base communication technology (texting) and bring it to the 21st century without being beholden to some American company.

Interesting. I wonder what new mechanics the sequel will have? To be honest, a graphical improvement and more types of hose attachments would probably be enough to justify a sequel - but I wonder if they’re going to do more story stuff this time around? The original game had a fairly funny story, albeit entirely text-based.

Kinda sick of this meme. It’s not dead, it was replaced by Health Connect.

Google Fit was the ‘hub’ for fitness-related data for all apps. Developers could link their app to Fit so users had one place for all their health data.

Android took over Fit’s role and called it Health Connect, which is now out of beta. Health Connect is the API that developers now use to store their data in one centralised location on the user’s device.

If anything, this is just a logical next step. Should Google have just started with Health Connect? Obviously. but I think it works better as an Android service and not a Google one.

Google Fit is sticking around (for now), as a user app for tracking fitness. It uses Health Connect API to store data, and now other developers need to use Health Connect instead of the Fit API.
