Thanks for the advice, but the point is still there. In fact to double down on it, I’d still choose using stores that respect the devs and the liberty of consumers over using any of the services steam provides despite their convenience.

You can get the steam Linux support and steam input by adding your gog games as non steam games or using heroic or lutris or the like. It usually works pretty well.

My only point is that drm free and a better developer cut are significantly more important than the other stuff.

And yes I chose those specific gimmicks because while steam has useful features it also has features that purely exist to keep you in an ecosystem without actually offering any utility, like achievements, trading cards, steam funds, and other features I mentioned. I happily use steam, but choose to purchase my games DRM free and try to maximise developer cut where I can, but being tricked into using a single store front is not a smart move.

Probably less convenient than through steam, but just installing heroic launcher or bottles or lutris or the likes makes that really easy. Most of the games installed on my steam deck are through heroic, same with on my desktop pc. In fact heroic launcher was a significantly better experience for me compared to gog galaxy when I was on Windows.

I use steam input but still purchase games from gog. Just add the game as a non steam game. Heroic and lutris even do it for you.

I just mean that buying games from steam for the gimmicks, like achievements, trading cards, and forums gives you less control over the product your purchasing.

Something like heroic or bottles fixes this issue and gives you more agency to play it your way.

Every gimmicky feature on steam is fluff to lock you into an ecosystem. Buying steam games for achievements for example is really silly.

Truth is if you care about a sustainable games industry, then drm free and maximising developer cut is the right choice.

Choose the option that gives the developer the biggest cut, like itch or directly, and just use a launcher aggregator to manage it from one place like heroic launcher or playnite. I personally use gog for most but will use an alternative if it supports the dev better.

I’m almost certain with pcvr you can still use the knuckles with base stations. Surely they’d have a vr space sync.

Linux mint installs easily (to be fair they all do), is familiar to Windows interface and has a big button to install nvidia drivers.

Not supporting it but lore wise it makes sense. The UNSC are (were?) fascists.

Its unreal engine but still incredible

I’m willing to bet game pass will come to the steam deck. Also, that’s fair. Subscription models for tentative and unsustainable game series makes sense. My issue is more with normal games having to compete with game pass.

Huh you’re right. But it looks like annapurna has pulled out, there’s no record of them being related to due process in their official site or anything. So the game must have run out of funding.

Without watching the video, cry engine at some point got leased to Amazon who used it to make lumber yard, which star citizen used and modified. eventually lumberyard got modified and made open source, and is now o3de

Is this game published by Annapurna?

Yakuza zero has been great on the steam deck for me. I think it kinda straddles the line between immersive sim while mostly being a brawler.

I installed Ubuntu the other day on my laptop it took about 15 mins and it was even easier than trying to set up windows

Pseudoregalia. Indie game with ridiculous movement tech. Very fun!

I get this for every notification type including slack and discord.

Mario Odyssey’s luigis balloon world. Spent a lot of time on that

Psn requirement sucks, but it is a sequel to a game not a spin off. It’s a full length story, new and refreshed mechanics and upgraded engine etc. I don’t see how this is worth less than the first game.

The hardware that the switch is based on is much older than the switch itself, so it’s likely we’ll get this level of performance for the next switch.

Not sure where you heard this, but a galaxy s24 definitely cannot match the performance of a PS5

I’d like maps not to become fully unresponsive after completing a trip

I think it depends on context and execution and culture. Key and peele did a black Hitler I think, and nobody cared

Yeah good lock will let you disable it. I forgot I used that to hide the nav hint.

Go to your display settings and to navigation bar. You can change to gestures instead of buttons.

When you’re reliant on every penny you make, having part of your paycheck going towards a union can seem like a bad decision at face value.

Optimisation is hard, especially when it’s an afterthought. SMO was built from the ground up for the switch. Just like zelda. The switch is not a powerful console.

Sly Cooper on the ps5 is emulated, not a native port. I’ve played some of the emulated Sony games on ps4 and they do not run very well, because the ps4 has to run an emulator and the game, instead of just running natively.

Letting people who only have modern consoles and don’t know how to work computers properly play a game sounds like a good thing to me. Also additional QoL changes can fully transform a game from a tedious mess to actually playable and fun. That’s the best part about a remake. You don’t have to buy it if you don’t want it :)

Native ports, when done well, are just better man. It can make better use of resources and runs in a well supported ecosystem. Emulators are great but not ideal for experiencing games. It also puts a wall up for people to access games. The more people that can play the game the better.
