Fyi, the next “last” update is expected to drop mid to late January (though it’s been delayed multiple years at this point). If that’s something you’d want to wait for.

It’s not ruining my day or anything, but the gacha game basically bribing their players to vote for them feels pretty lame.

And I mentioned it in another TGA thread, but for a 4.5 hour runtime, presenting roughly 10 out of 30 awards on stage with the rest being rapid fire announcements between walls of ads/trailers doesn’t feel great for an awards show.

Those two gripes aside, I did enjoy it overall. All the winners’ speeches were very sweet and nice to see, though clearly a rough year for most games not named Clair Obscur.

*Oh, also, that Divinity trailer was GNARLY. Like, holy shit.

I missed the news about a sequel and was popping off when this showed up. Hoping it’s not as resource hungry as AW2 was, but excited either way. Control was amazing.

Super Bombad Racing is the only true Star Wars racing game (/s). But for real, this looks cool. Curious what the gameplay looks like.

Along with the other comment, it’s also soulless. Not that the postal series had much in the way of artistry to begin with, even that series is still more artistic than anything generated by a program.

Indie doesn’t and hasn’t ever had anything to do with budget.

ambitious

no multiplayer paywall

lol, fuck off. Better late than never, but this shit turned me away from consoles a long, long time ago.

Yeah, so “boring” to just not say shitty, denigrating things out loud. Poor you. 🙄

So you get it’s a shitty thing to say, but you’re saying it anyway. Thanks for clarifying.

Two of the best games out there, and they both still hold up, imo. The original also recently got a graphics upgrade to put it in par with the sequel, which is nice.

My favorite thing about the dev is how diverse their games are. I’d prefer something new rather than them just becoming the “Hades series devs”.

That certainly was the intent. I just hated it. It felt like every run was doomed from the start until I managed to get through the seemingly endless number of runs that would be needed to suss out not just what every item did, but how they interacted. There were parts I really liked, but I kept putting it down because it just wasn’t fun. Once that daunting requirement was removed, I had a blast and played it a ton. I haven’t gone back to it in a long time and it still remains one of my most played games on Steam.

It is incredibly rare to see an Album anymore because people don’t listen to music as albums.

…what? This claim is so incredibly wrong, it slants your entire comment. Artists as small as you can get to those as big as Swift are still releasing albums. Just because you don’t interact with them doesn’t mean they don’t exist.

I strugglebused on BoI for a while trying to force myself to experience it the “right” way and just hating it the whole time. Legitimately thought I didn’t like the game for a long time. Then I finally gave in and just looked up the items as I found them and that made it so much better. I ended up playing enough to get every ending (up through Rebirth), and I stopped worrying about “ruining” games by looking things up after that. Baring legit spoilers, I look up everything now. Turns out that knowing how the game functions is pretty important for enjoying it. Glad they finally got around to addressing that.

I can sympathize with that. I’ve put down my fair share of games when it just gets too frustrating, even games I was otherwise enjoying. I think a lot of people come at soulslikes with the wrong approach, hence the comment, but for some it just won’t click. Unfortunately not all games are for all people. We all have games like that.

If you ever feel like giving it (or any other soulslike) another shot, I’d recommend putting less pressure on “beating” it or how much you’re “failing”. The joy of these games is the process, not (exclusively) the result - learning the sequences, the rhythms, and steadily getting better. That’s what these games are all about. If you’re just rushing to beat everything as fast as possible, you’re missing out.

If the services weren’t preparing for absurd traffic for this game, they were downright negligent.

Publishers would still have to distribute authentication keys directly, no? That would cause the same problem here since the storefront is only dealing with the transaction side of things. Downloading is a separate server (I would assume).

I’m not really sure what you think is gained by treating the hard work of talented coders as “weak” or “a side project”. Small teams dream of making something like HK. These are hall-of-fame level devs that will be remembered for ages. They deserve more respect than that.

*3 people (used to be 4). Not that that’s less impressive. It’s just worth it to be accurate.

Ah, yeah, I totally misread those screenshots. My mistake. Still not good, though. I take back that YDI, but yeah, not surprised they’re getting ghosted after all that.

What second coming? Terraria still has another update in the pipe.

Lol, YDI. When asked to provide the identifiable information, you just say “Stop and do the thing I want.” You seriously expect them to just hand over an account to someone who can’t provide basic information about it? You owned yourself, pal.

I misread the order of the interaction, which painted a much more antagonistic view of OP. Sorry about that. That said, the actual interaction plus their further reaction here is still not good. “Brainstorming how to automate the requests” is not an appropriate response to any of this.

So are we admonishing “playing it safe” here or are we shitting on attempted innovation? You don’t get to do both.

Stardew Valley? At a certain point of the game, you start to genuinely care about the characters. Not just as in-game characters, but as virtual people with their own backstories, goals, dreams. You relate to them.

I just like to make the cute farm go brrrrrrrr. Honestly, I’m annoyed that marriage (or “roomieship” with the monster) is required to 100% the game.

There can be originality within franchises. Dr. Mario vs. Luigi’s Mansion vs. Mario Kart vs. Super Mario Maker (etc, etc). No, it’s not always an industry busting idea, but you can’t say it’s all rote repetition. It’s the same universe, but that’s ok. Not everything has to be a whole cloth original idea.

I will give you Pokemon, though. Outside of Snap and (kind of) Legends, it’s pretty clearly lazy, by the number installations, which is a shame. The universe clearly appeals to and inspires so many people. They deserve better.

What about this clusterfuck gives you the impression that this will improve the game beyond where it’s already at?
