I mean if you run on an operating system, you’re not really serious about anti cheat. You should require all of your players to buy your own hardware that is sealed in a titanium box. They should have to give a blood sample before each session, and they should have to be completely surrounded by webcams the entire time. Better yet, have them report to their nearest prison’s solitary confinement wing for a 100% monitored play session.
Let’s get actually serious about anti cheat.
Yes, but that’s a different sale. My point is it can still be considered a loss leader if they sell it at cost. It took them many millions to develop it, so overall they would be losing money on the hardware sales.
That’s as opposed to something like Costco’s hot dogs. There was no R&D there, so if they sold it at cost, I wouldn’t consider it a loss leader.

Back when I wrote my own start menu replacement (for Windows XP), it worked by turning itself transparent and not responding to mouse input. When you clicked the start button, it would turn itself back to opaque and start responding to mouse input. This meant it opened in maybe 32 milliseconds if it was being particularly slow and took two frames to open instead of one.

Even if it’s relevant and well written, if its agenda is something like “white race is best race” or “trans people are insane”, then I don’t care, it’s shit. Then again, people who think that don’t usually make good art. Some have in the past, like JK Rowling, but what has she done lately? She’s a has been.
You can get it repaired. There are lots of places online that can do it, and there are probably some repair shops near you that can too. It might be some small part that’s causing the whole issue, so it’s worth checking out.
