Makes sense considering most everything new uses M.2 these days, but bad news for those of us with older systems we still leverage that only have SATA.

I’d rather buy a game on Steam than get it for free from Epic. Seriously.

I claimed the first few games and their launcher was shit. Now, to be fair, Steam wasn’t exactly a pinnacle of achievement when it first came out, either, but it’s been refined and honed to a razor. Epic is just “let’s throw shit at the wall and see what happens”, with no coherent strategy or marketing beyond “we’re not Steam!”. Their client, as I understand it, is still shit, and their CEO is a jackass. Haven’t had it installed in years now. Meanwhile, I have a backlog on Steam of like 1000 games.

Why would I ever use Epic? It has no value.

And yes, that goes for games sold on Steam with the “have to use Origin” bullshit, too. I’m not launching Steam to then launch Origin. This is not Inception. Let me play my damn game and stay out of it. Ya know?

I’m still holding to it, but I agree, it’s getting harder and harder to find stuff on sale for less than $5. Especially if you’ve been on Steam for a long time and have a large library already.

This is the same group of people that also tells individuals they should cut expenses and not look for a handout.

Good thing I never signed up for one.

Any Steam game that requires an EA, Ubisoft, Blizzard, whatever account is a total non-starter for me. I’ve looked at some of the newer Battlefields when they’re on sale for like $2 and I still can’t be convinced. Likely never will.

Ok with me, there’s lots of other publishers out there, both independents and studios, that I’d much rather give my $2 to.

I will say, just talking cost, if you are able, they sell GamePass gift cards at Costco and occasionally do deals. I got 6 months of Ultimate for $90 last time.

I still think the pricing change is dumb and I’m unlikely to renew.

Not sure why; being publicly traded and their valuation because of it is the only thing keeping them solvent.

If you’ve got a wheel and pedals, F1 2019 is pretty fun and doesn’t have a lot of the forced online hoops you need to jump through for later editions like 2024.

For me, my favorites are:

RAH-66 Comanche for flying sim.

Wolfpack (from Brøderbund) for submarine sim. I believe it is also free on archive.org. (Added link: https://archive.org/details/msdos_WolfPack_1990)

Euro Truck Simulator 2 for trucking sim.

F1 2019 for racing sim. But it pretty much requires a wheel and pedals if you want to get really good, which does add to the cost.

EDIT: added link

Yep. I have all the map and special delivery DLCs too and it’s awesome.

I don’t get it why exactly, but it’s awesome just seeing the detail they put into the game. Getting all the photo locations is really hard!

And some of the achievements take a looooong time to get.

I’m in. Loved the first one and this looks fun too.

Apart from the admittedly over the top hyperbole about the NES, what portion of my sarcasm would you say qualifies as a strawman?

“Dear fans,

“We’ve seen the feedback online that everyone is unhappy that our new generation of hardware and software is too expensive. Nintendo listens to customer feedback, and we appreciate your enthusiasm for Nintendo products!

“In response to the community, we’ve updated our license agreement so that if you even think about not paying us, we’ll kick you off ALL our stuff and cancel every other Nintendo thing you have! We’ll even send a brute squad to your house and smash your legacy NES we can’t brick remotely in front of your kids! Nobody messes with Nintendo!

“Now, get out there, and buy, buy, buy!

“Sincerely, your friendly, caring buddies at Nintendo.”

I hope they are because there’s no damn way I’m spending $70+ on a video game, and since Nintendo never drops its game prices, I might as well just wait.

I’d look to see if your tablet could drive a USB-C monitor for the video/textbook screen. You can pick up pretty good 14” ones from HP and Dell for like $130.

Damn I am glad every day I cancelled this shit, and I started as a customer back in under “please mail me DVDs” phase. This company has completely lost itself.

I wasn’t complaining, just annoyed with the (I guess now old) rules for sharing and the limitations it imposed. Not enough to stop buying games, though. I’ve been on Steam a long time and have a large library of games. We just got used to taking turns playing. Happy to see that change.

That’s awesome; I didn’t know they changed that. I haven’t tried to play multiple games from the same library for a long time now because I hadn’t heard about that restriction changing. Thanks!

omg yes

I hope this is better than the current implementation. The current “any user playing any game means the entire library is unavailable” is dumb. Going to go read the fine print!

Grew up on Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Virtua Fighter, etc. I’ve got MK1 on my wishlist but still a bit too pricey for me to pull the trigger. I have SF6 already.

Anything worth getting? I was thinking about picking up the street fighter 30th anniversary collection, but the reviews aren’t that good…

“Purchase in secret and hide your porn games!” is pretty much what I got out of that one.

I do like the gifting to multiple friends in one order, though. It was a pain when I wanted to give multiple friends a gift and had to deal with multiple transactions.

Everyone has a test environment! Some people are lucky enough to have a production environment, too.

That’s pretty impressive. It actually does look like an N64 game from the 90s. I wonder if there’s some alternate timeline where this was Valve’s first game and the PC version is the remaster.

Steam Deck 2: Episode 1 confirmed.

Joking aside, glad they did this. I really want to pick one up next year.

This game, man. Can’t figure out why I like it so much, but it’s just so good. Totally in on this DLC too.

Sounds interesting. Been a while since I’ve played but the new Balkans DLC just dropped…

Guess I better review the library before they get delisted in Steam.

Ordered and already excited. I still have a giant box of 2600 games and controllers and according to their site, it will all be compatible.

Ready for the nostalgia overload when I fire up Pitfall.

Always upvote HL2. My favorite game of all time.

This could totally get me to finally get going and build a new gaming rig.

I wish the team luck. I’m sure it’s not am easy task, looking at other, similar projects like Black Mesa, but the demo is stunning. Would love to see what Ravenholm looks like…

Well I guess I’m glad my upgrade went just fine and my vault is working as normal. Considering how often I use it, I can only imagine how much of a pain it is to not have access to it.
