None of the high end chips were made in Chinese fabs, and the device barely qualifies as a “laptop” besides the form factor. For some bizarre reason they used a USB5744 USB 3.2 5Gb/s hub chip, which tells me the following:

• Their CPU doesn’t even have multiple USB3 interfaces
• Their CPU doesn’t even have a single 10GB/s USB interface, which has been standard for may years
• They don’t really care about using local parts only, because they have alternative products like the GL3590

Unless We get better close up tear down photos, this devices primary purpose is propaganda

Same here. Donated not only to cover my installs, but also for everyone I recommended it to. I hope the f-droid version wont be affected, otherwise I have to uninstall the upcomming bloat- and spyware ridden versions manually from a bunch of devices smh.

I mean I am fine with apps not being maintained and eventually break, but selling out and breaching trust like this is exactly how regular companies would treat me and why I chose FOSS in the first place.

For editing pictures, try out Pocket Paint (F-Droid). Feature rich and surprisingly good UX for a mobile editor app.

Try Neo Luncher (IzzyOnDroid repo). It supports a lot of the customization options as Nova, but is completely FOSS.

I want to have my own FOSS infotainment system, without proprietary garbage shipped with it. Replaced my head unit with an Android based one and don’t ever want to go back.

I don’t mind spending on good tools, but I won’t buy a highly locked down device at any cost. An open source OS is a must, any new device will have to compete with my current phone that also has an SD card, headphone jack and is easy enough to open so that I can change the battery myself. Folding phones are inferior in all those aspects.
