Yeah, I agree with that personally, but realistically, “your phone was near a place” is not the same as “you were involved”. If they hijack a phone onto a Stingray, they can get way more info than just IMEI.

I don’t understand why cell phones don’t authenticate the towers they connect to. Is this really just a “standards lag behind modern security” thing, or is it on purpose to allow these Stingray devices to be used?

The double standard being they will absolutely use AI to filter through applications. They are pure scumbags.

I wish they’d propose a mandate on having the option for disconnected vehicles sold in the US, instead. Privacy-conscious people should not have to resort to finding and disconnecting antennas to reclaim privacy from sketchy data collection. I get that China is the big bad wolf in this discussion, but American companies are just as bad with the data hoarding and erosion of privacy.

At some point they are going to have ad channels with content breaks.

They are not deleting, they are editing. So the platform would have to undo those edits rather than just flipping the visibility flag.

I’m guessing that was a “better to track and monetize you” decision, on their part. Glad I moved to Proton. If you don’t pay for it, you’re not a customer. I got tired of being Google’s product.

It’s more “prosumer”. Definitely not designed for lay-people.

Unifi can run the interface locally, via cloud, out both. I have a UDM and most of the time I access the interfaces locally.

They will sell ads on anything they can that isn’t so illegal that the fines would be a net negative to revenue or actually have a chance to imorison their executives.
