ah so that post I saw the other day saying “begun the kernel wars have” makes senses. someone posted the fact they couldn’t play BF6 cause Valorant was installed.

Plus it’s great if the server is made specifically for a map you really love. Like TFC/TF2 with say 24/7 2fort. I love me some 2fort and yeah I will play it for hours on end, it’s comfy.

a year ago on Mastodon when EA started locking out games like Apex Legends, BF1, V, 2042, etc from Linux I said “I bet you Microsoft is about to launch a handheld and since they have a deal with EA and Gamepass they want EA Exclusivity on their handheld and to lockout Steamdeck/Valve” sure enough a few months later Microsoft announces their Xbox handheld with Asus.

Nintendo has ALWAYS been like this. The SNES could easily play games from Japan on the NA console. But Nintendo wouldn’t allow it. how? look at a North American SNES cartridge. notice those notches on the bottom? inside the console where you plug the cartridge in you’ll see two pegs for where it connects to said cartridge. just little plastic pegs. Japanese Super Famicom carts didn’t have this. So how do you play Japanese games on your US SNES? remove those pegs.

you remove those little plastic pegs and suddenly your SNES is region free.

I found it…daunting. I couldn’t stick with it. maybe it’s because I like my RPGs to have a bit of action or random encounters I don’t know but I just couldn’t get into it. once I found myself skipping text and stuff I figured “welp, there’s no point in playing this now”.

So yeah I guess I just found it daunting and boring. Just not my cup of tea. If you’re someone that enjoyed it, kudos. but personally I don’t think it’s the greatest RPG ever made.

well to say Xenosaga surpassed it…I mean that’s not hard to do.

Xenogears is great but keep in mind it’s not finished. the entire second disc is proof of this. It’s an unfinished game that is regarded as one of the greatest RPG’s of all time. Same with Xenosaga. that’s an unfinished series. so to say Xenosaga surprassed it…well yeah it got further along than Xenogears did.

Batman the Videogame on the NES, FFVII, the entire WipEout series, original soundtrack for Crazy Taxi, Sonic the Hedgehog 3/Sonic & Knuckles, X-Men on the Sega Genesis, WET, Omega Boost, Zone of the Enders, BurnOut 3: Takedown, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Lost War Chronicles, Roommania #203, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Mega Man 2 & 3, Doom, SSX Tricky, Xenogears.

they did the exact same thing in the porn industry. naturally Visa and MC didn’t communicate directly with the individual porn companies. So thats’ how places like CCBill and what have you took off. and then Visa and MC laid out their weird rules to CCBill who then passed it along to the individual companies.

Free marketing for Running with Scissors.

I used to live in Tucson, I knew a couple guys at Running with Scissors and yeah this doesn’t surprise me. Dudes are pros at getting their names out there free of charge. When there’s any sort of controversy of even the slightest thing in the games industry they WILL try and slap Postal on it. it works. they’ve been around for like 30 years now and have made like what? 4 postal games? and then remastered the others a few times that they had other devs work on. Completely independent too. They’re not a huge company but everyone that works for them has been comfortable without much effort for some time now.

because MC and Visa are morons. According to them in porn 4 fingers and a thumb in a vagina is fine. as soon as you take said fingers and thumb, ball them into a fist, and then stick it in a vagina then they got problems with THAT and it’s a no go.

They have more stupid rules. If you piss on a woman in Europe and film it then it’s fine. If you piss on a woman in the US and film it then it’s not fine. IF you take the footage of someone pissing on a woman IN Europe and SELL it in the US then that’s fine. But Americans are not allowed to pee on Americans on US soil according to Visa and Mastercard.

here’s another one: Incest Porn is not fine according to Visa and MC. “but I see that stuff all the time!” I hear you say dear reader. Yes, because according to MC/Visa you MUST establish that this is a step family relationship in the beginning BUT further into said video you can drop the “step-” moniker and start throwing around regular dads and moms and brothers and sisters all you like.

they’ve been doing it since the late 90s/early 00s. Visa and MC have a list of “rules” for porn companies and have had them for decades. Why the vast majority of adult entertainment companies use third party processors like CCBill to specifically deal with that shit.

These dumb fucks in Australia think they’re ahead of the curve or doing “something that has never been done before” but nah man they probably did talk to Visa and MC but highly doubt they pushed them to anything. it was more like Visa/MC said “oh yeah we did this before…yeah we should probably apply what we did to Porn to the gaming industry.”

talk to anyone that works in the porn industry. Mastercard and Visa have ALWAYS been like this ever since the late 90s/early 00s. they set the rules for what the adult entertainment industry can produce and sell and only now are people discovering because of video games that they’ve been this way for decades.

I’m sure if you dig deep enough into the people involved you’ll crawl out with a couple pedos, a few rapists, and more than likely some dudes who are into some really kinky shit.

it’s always the case, always. whenever there are groups like this pushing their agenda they’re secretly trying to justify themselves.

ok Ubisoft. I can’t recall the last time I had “fun” playing one of your games, monetization or not. Might have been Beyond Good and Evil on the Gamecube.

It was pretty wild. I wish I still had the list of visa/MC “no-nos”

I mean honestly the US government was more lax. all they wanted was us to ensure we were following the 2257 stuff and documenting all the talent.

surprisingly though American Express was a lot more “liberal” with this stuff. guess those dudes were just kinkier.

yup they did this a LONG time ago with porn sites and DVD sales. I used to work in that industry as a web developer in the early 00s. Third party billers specifically set up for the porn industry thrived because of this.

there were many silly rules like you said, no fisting, at most two fingers in the asshole, Incest was “OK” as long as it was “step-” whatever BUT you could get away with it if you laid the ground work initially and say “step-mom” or whatever and then later on just say “mom”. Step-Dad was…hit or miss if you could get away with it. Scat was a no go BUT piss was ok IF it was from Europe, sorry US folks, you’re not allowed to piss on each other and film it in the good ol United States according to Visa and Mastercard. Finally some stuff like gang bangs or “abuse” porn was fine AS LONG as the girl at the end of the video has a mini interview claiming what a great time she had while covered in jizz. Visa and Mastercard needed to ensure this lady enjoyed herself.

fucking really dumb rules and I would have LOVED to be a fly in the room when Visa and Mastercard lawyers came up with these things.

Hey FBI thanks for letting me know about nsw2u cc I had no idea this thing existed…but now I do, so thank you.

seriously though I use the megathread and it has quite literally everything. literally the only good thing to come from reddit.

AI tends to eat it’s own, and others, shit. That’s why you’ll often see images like this that look similar to others. This is just what bing image creator is pumping out because it’s literally gorging on its own waste.

man those Tribal GBA SPs. yeah I remember when Nintendos advertising in the US was way more edgy. like when the GameBoy Pocket and GameBoy Color came out the commercials for those were dark.

I started playing warframe recently. Yes it’s free to play, yes there’s monetization, but I feel it’s one of those games you really don’t need to buy anything for. you can pretty much obtain everything via grinding. I can see how that wouldn’t appeal to a lot of people today but I used to play everquest and anarchy online etc so I know about the grind and I don’t mind it.

What’s funny about this whole thing is it’s almost like PirateSoftwares days in EVE Online when he invited everyone to Pochven space cause he thought he was hot shit and then proceeded to get his ass handed to him and he rage quit the game. He brought attention to something that ended up having the opposite effect of what he wanted.

Granted he was absolutely shit at EVE regardless of what he’s told his audience. couldn’t fit a ship to save his life, ran for CSM and no one voted for him, then rage quit when everyone and even his own corp proceeded to kick his teeth in.

working where exactly? working on a farm that will pay you minimum wage, if that? oh OH I know working in the tech sector where it’s now and has been for the past couple years an absolute nightmare to find a job in.

There are NO jobs out there that will pay for the current cost of living and the ones that COULD aren’t hiring, and if anything, are laying people off. And yeah, these unemployed young men are TOTALLY playing videogames that now cost $80 a pop paid via a job they don’t have.

honestly the only ones I picked up this year are the Crash Bandicoot Trilogy and Jurassic World Evolution 2. that’s it.

I don’t think it’s a matter of the sale is meh but most of the stuff with deep discounts is always on sale with previous sales and thus I already picked that stuff up. You’ll constantly see the same games over and over with each sale and when you participate in each sale that number of games to get great deals on becomes less and less.

It’s Capcom, they have no intentions of “fixing it” or “turning it around” because the execs either don’t care or no ones told them of the “overwhelmingly negative” reviews on steam. They’ll just shut it down like they have previous games. They won’t see it as people are not playing it because it’s not good they’ll just see it as people are not playing it so that must mean it’s at it end of life so we should shut it down.

Honestly Valve needs to have a policy for this. If a game that once worked on Steamdeck and now no longer works after publisher intervention then refunds need to be issued. I have BF2042, BFV and BF1 and 1 was the LAST one I could still play on Linux. Now I have 3 digital paperweights that I can’t play anymore. I want my money back.
