Launch availability sucks as usual, too. Thought I had an XFX from NewEgg until I got the “voided due to insufficient stock” email. Thanks for wasting my morning, NewEgg.

Edit: Also, opting me in to an email newsletter on the occasion of me placing an order that was subsequently voided due to lack of stock is a next level dick move.

This is me. Spanking new 9800x3d with an RTX 3080. I’m not unhappy but I’d planned to buy a new video card by now. 😄

I’m currently able to play BG3 in HDR (on Nvidia!) using gamescope. Once the Wayland stuff makes it to Bazzite, how would that change my Steam launch parameters? No more gamescope?

ENABLE_HDR_WSI=1 gamescope -f -w 3840 -h 2160 --hdr-enabled --hdr-debug-force-output --steam -- env ENABLE_GAMESCOPE_WSI=1 DXVK_HDR=1 DISABLE_HDR_WSI=1 %command% --skip-launcher

Bunch of greedy ass geezers. I’ve been watching the MSI RTX 5090 Liquid Suprim SOC. Announced at 2,499. B&H initially had it at that price, then 2,789, then 2,799, then back to 2,789. US MSI store also went to 2,799. Haven’t seen a price yet on NewEgg.

Edit: Just noticed that I’d said “4090” instead of “5090”. This has been corrected. Apologies for the typo.

After years of releasing its games exclusively on the Epic Store

I thought I bought Valhalla through UPlay or whatever you call it. When did that come out?

Edit: AC Valhalla was released on Nov 10, 2020. Furthermore, Wikipedia says

On PC, the game was an Epic Games Store-exclusive title until December 6, 2022, when it was released on Steam.

but I just checked and the only game I ever bought on Epic was Kena Bridge of Spirits.

Interesting idea. Have not tried. Currently installed version is 8.6.69.622227155.2-release if that is helpful to anyone making the attempt.

I haven’t had the opportunity to test on another brand phone but atm I’m assuming from the developer statement that this will be true of Google Translate on all Android phones. Thanks for your contribution, though.

Edit: If the Google app is disabled on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4, the same behavior occurs.

I have found the translation from camera source feature useful in Google Translate and I use it from time to time. Last night was one such occasion, yet when I attempted to enable camera mode, I received the message shown in the screenshot, "Please install the latest Google app in order to use camera translation". I currently have a Pixel phone and I have had the Google app disabled since shortly after I got it. I left negative feedback on the Play Store after I discovered this new wrinkle as I feel Google thinks they have struck upon a way to prevent users from disabling or uninstalling the Google app. The developer responded that Translate camera is "now powered by Google Lens which is part of the Google app". I have been struggling to remember another occasion where an app has been dependent on the presence of another app to function in either Android or iOS. Besides the obvious Google shittiness, I feel like introducing these sorts of application interdependencies opens the door to... idk, something bad. Thoughts? Edit: As I have noted in the comments, this is not a problem unique to the Google Pixel phone. If the Google app is disabled on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4, the same behavior occurs.

My credit union’s web site looks like a MySpace page. They don’t even offer freaking 2FA. Been meaning to transition to cash management account but such a PITA.
