The last time I played (probably 3 or 4 years ago), I had my brother pocket medic for me in the same physical room so I could bark orders at him. He’d never played, but he’s a good fps player. My first life on a pub server I went as a heavy and got a 22 kill streak. We’re a family of highly competent shit talkers and boy, my brother didn’t have shit to say.

Played Baldur’s Gate with the wife (finally) and been playing Ember Knights with my kid.

Every game you played is on my list to play.

My wife was in law school in 2007 and I needed to get her a change of scenery cause she was studying 70 hours a day. I rented a trashy little house on a canal in Galveston, TX, grabbed my laptop to bring along, and bought a copy of The Orange Box to keep me busy while she studied and looked out the window at something different.

Years later, when I hit 6k hours played in TF2, I decided it was time to do something else.

My son’s most played game in his replay this year was TF2 and told me a few weeks ago he thinks he could beat me. I haven’t played in years.

Son, Imma wreck your shit.

also i played a lot of fantasy life this year

Eternal Darkness for Gamecube.

I’m a long time Eclipse player and the commitment for a game like this always looked crazy, so I’m excited to play it this way.

When POE2 came out, I played it for a couple hours, hated it, and went back to Diablo 4. I saw it at PAX a week ago and thought I’d give it a try again since I quit D4 and was jonesing for that fix. It’s doing pretty well so far. I’m in Act 3.

He’s 13. I was surprised. He’s liked Nintendo platformers, but otherwise hasn’t been very interested in metroidvania/platformers really. He didn’t get into Dead Cells at all.

great point. i added links.

Figure I can’t complain about content if I don’t start posting content.

PAX West: Games to watch for
These are the games I saw that I was really excited for: - [Memoria Wake](https://store.steampowered.com/app/3240610/Memoria_Wake/): The art direction was incredible. It was so good that I just stood there and watched people play for 10 minutes. Sometimes you see something and you just know that the creators are a special talent. The art team on this game have a huge future ahead of them. - [Never's End](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1999930/Nevers_End/): All the ingredients are there for a really great turn based tactical. Love the art, love the battle. Didn't get much of a read on the writing and it played a bit slow, but if they can nail those things then this has indie classic all over it. - [Blocks for Babies](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2776770/Blocks_for_Babies/): Tetris and Doom smashed together, but it somehow totally works. It's early in development but there's a really fun game in here. I love it when devs nervously watch over your shoulder and you can give them honest positive feedback (as opposed to hired slick PR person). These kids were watching me like I was their buddy at their apartment play testing for the first time. They've got a long way to go, but I'm a buyer on day 1 if they can get this out the door someday. - [Rollergirl](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2828540/RollerGirl/): A vibes game, and I mean that in the best way. They're gonna have to nail the music and finding a balance between driving the story and just letting players chill out in the world is going to be a balancing act, but the music changing the environment felt great and I was sad when I realized I had to get off the game because I was that guy that was playing way too long. - Borderlands 4: Every meeting about the direction of game started with the question "but what did the focus group say?". A mashup of every brainless shooter of the last 10 years and I mean that in the worst way possible. - [Swapmeat](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2790700/SWAPMEAT/): The opposite of Borderlands 4. The entire game was FUN. The shooter action was FUN. Grabbing body parts and putting together a Frankenstein character and using it to fight was FUN. It felt like all the people in charge of a good time got shitcanned by Borderlands and rolled over to Swapmeat. Not my kind of game at all but I was smiling the whole time I played it. - [Letter Lost](https://store.steampowered.com/app/3624790/Letter_Lost/): I think there's a good game in here? I liked what I saw but this is the kinda game that you MUST stick the landing and I'm not sure if they're gonna. My wife and kid loved the premise and were excited for more. - [Tiny Bookshop](https://store.steampowered.com/app/2133760/Tiny_Bookshop/): The publisher honestly seemed as shocked as anyone that this game is doing great. They were having that moment where they've just released and it randomly takes off and they're just holding on. I waited longer for this game than anything else at PAX. The people playing wouldn't get off of it. - [Fresh Tracks](https://store.steampowered.com/app/3202950/Fresh_Tracks/): Looked like either a really good VR or a really shitty regular game at first glance. Then I played it and I liked it. Then I went back and played again and really liked it. Now I've been playing for two days since PAX and this game is amazing. I don't even like rhythm games and I think roguelites have been beaten to death and I still love this game. []()

My family and I played a switch 2 for this first time at pax this weekend and none of us were impressed.

There were a lot of big games that just weren’t my type of games. The line for Resident Evil was 2 hours the entire show. Nintendo was showing Pokemon and Kirby and the lines were nightmares. I think that PAX Rising was the best I’ve seen though. All of them were interesting, and some of them I would buy right now half broken if they released them early access. Blocks for Babies, Never’s End, Rollergirl, and Arcane Eats were all fun ideas. Rollergirl’s world change based on your music choices felt really great.

The gameplay of 2 was really fun. Jack and Claptrap did talk way too much.

PAX West: Borderlands 4 was terrible. Swapmeat looked like what BL4 should have looked like
My takeaway from playing Borderlands 4 was that it could have been ANY big studio shooter release of the last 5 years. If I couldn't see what game it was and you asked me what it was, I would have guessed Destiny 2 in some shape or form. There was just nothing about it that was interesting or fun. It felt like it had been polished to absolute death. But Swapmeat was great. All the parts were there for it to be a ton of fun. It felt like all the stupid fun parts of BL2 with a body mod mechanism to let you get really weird with it. I'm not a game reviewer type, but after being so disappointed by BG4, I was really excited after playing Swapmeat. They were pretty close to each other on the show floor at PAX and the vibes were night and day.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses. My kid and I assigned video games to each other for the summer and that’s what I got assigned. They’re playing Persona 5 Golden.

Not a patient game anytime soon, but they loved the original Fantasy Life and we’ve been playing and loving the new one too.

My 13 and 15 year olds are PC first gamers, then consoles, then mobile. I raised them that way on purpose because I wanted to avoid tablet and phone screens. I could control access better that way.

And yea, also because I’m a pc and console gamer and wanted to play my favorite games with them.

The older one has started playing mobile games more often and yea, it’s Genshin and Honkai. That kid was always in love with Fire Emblem, so Honkai makes sense to me. The stories are all kind of the same.

A friend stayed with us for a few days and they have a 12 and 10 year old. I have every console imaginable, PCs on big screens, and they never left their tablets.

I think once kids get on the tablet/phone/mobile games, they don’t really leave. I don’t know that I would have either.

Aside from this being false, it’s kinda crazy that Steam has had no significant public leaks.

Just moved my Win10 machine to Pop OS. No issues at all. Haven’t tried Steam VR on it yet.

Mad Max was way better than it had any right to be.

This is a sorta top end mid level club with no designs on top 4. What they do get they get from feasting on lower quality clubs but even, you can’t help but think there’s a ceiling there. It’s a good club, don’t get me wrong. I just don’t think they have the quality to break thru.

But I guess that’s always the story of Tottenham.

That other club looked like a bucket of shit.

I completely missed the top of the graphic and was thinking 3 goals is pretty good.

Jesus Christ.

Watching MLS last night and kept thinking that man, there’s just that lack of quality to finish around the top of the box, and then you see one like this 5-10 yards out and I’m like…yup.

CB continues to be a dammed hard position to fill and feel good about.

Only casuals thought otherwise.

Excited to delete this comment in 3 weeks.

I have two kids. Both prefer pc or switch for exclusives. They haven’t touched the PlayStation or Xbox in months if not years. I don’t even think they know how to turn them on.

Another for the wishlist. Thanks for posting that.

Thanks for that. Added to my wishlist.

My kids played this till their eyes bled. Great local screen party game.

The Italians were the biggest disappointment by far. No ideas, no leadership, no organization. They didn’t deserve to go thru.

If I were an England fan I’d be sweating bullets based on what I’ve seen. Same with France. I’ve always joked that the only team that can beat France is France and right now they seem to be doing just that. Kante has been good though.

You can only play what’s in front of you so Spain haven’t had a serious game yet, but they’ve been convincing. You gotta win the little games too and they have.

Germany have done the job as well.
