Maybe it says more about me than about game pass, but even at 5€ a month it would be significantly more money than I spend on games every year.

Not that I couldn’t afford it, but I mostly play games that are at least 5 to 10 years old, either on second-hand physical copies or heavily discounted sales/keyshops. The most recent game I’ve bought is Elden Ring, even then only recently because I found a cheap physical copy.

Blizzard’s last good release was Overwatch (2016), which they have subsequently completely ruined (in my opinion) so I wouldn’t be proud of having worked there unless it was a long time ago 😅

Game Pass is the same scam as Netflix was back then, and I’m not falling for it twice.

Netflix used to be too good to be true as well. 10€ a month for literally everything ! Now they don’t even make blu-rays anymore and you spend more time looking up which service has the thing you want to watch than watching it, so people are pirating again.

I’ll stick to physical games and GOG as much as possible.

Pretty weird guy, honestly. Seems competent, but spends too much time complaining about other people instead of working on his own stuff.

While this is bad for the market, it’s also entirely expected.

Xbox have been producing sub-par hardware with names no one can remember and barely any exclusives, it was only a matter of time.

To other Europeans : do you know anyone who owns an Xbox ? I’ve only ever had one single friend in middle school who had a 360. I’ve never seen any other model outside of an electronics store.

Their current gen is hamstrung by the existence of the Series S, and the utter lack of features in their controllers (no gyroscope or any motion sensors ? No advanced rumble ? No touchpad ?). No one who is serious about controller gaming buys an Xbox controller, especially because of the lack of gyro.

Their dedication to digital-only and pushing the games pass also alienates anyone who wishes to play physical games and/or offline.

They kinda murdered the game for me when they made it so easy to switch servers during play and avoid ever fighting anyone…

Let this be a lesson : do not re-develop your game engine when it’s almost done already.

You can’t delay your game until it’s perfect as if you were Shigeru Miyamoto. You need to get something playable with a solid base out the dole, and iterate with feedback.
