One of the limitations of the AMDGPU Linux kernel graphics driver has been the lack of its support for HDMI 2.1 and later. I didn’t realize alt mode used DP (but I guess that makes sense) - good to know, will definitely look for that in my next TV

Yeah USB-C doesn’t support HDMI at all. All USB-C+HDMI adapters use DP signalling on the cable.
