Sure, but your first time through it’s easy to not understand the mechanics.

I loved this one, too. Super weird story, but I was hooked. I didn’t even object to what I sort of remember as a deus ex machina kind of ending. Seemed fittingly weird for the vibe.

I really wish this had been one for me, but I’ve never been able to make it more than halfway through despite a few good faith attempts. I am really glad you had a great time with it, though!

Agreed. I thought it was a competently made game, even if not groundbreaking or best in class for shooting. I think people’s expectations are often their biggest obstacle to enjoyment.

It’s a reaction to a storytelling choice; you’ll know when you get there.

Edit: Just saw your other comment in here, and seems you got to the switch already. I share your opinion!

I agree with you. I think 2 is better than 1, and it’s not close in my eyes. Audacious storytelling, but (IMO) they pulled it off really well.

I made the adjustment, but it hurt. I’m still slower at things than I used to be.

Leaked pictures / more confirmation. It’s “real” now, or at least a more solid rumor than before.

I’ve been enjoying it, although it is still unpolished. I think ultimately whether you like the new direction (changes to the age system/picking new civs mid game) is going to be a matter of personal taste. To me, I now feel like my unique civ bonuses are always relevant, instead of just in whatever specific era. I also find myself more engaged in mid to late game.

But I’ve also read a number of comments where people prioritize other aspects of the Civ experience, and those folks do NOT like the changes to game flow. Your mileage may vary.

I came here to recommend this, too. This game lets you really hit a nice vibe with the movement. Has co-op, too!

Counter Strike was way better when this was the vibe. I am so tired of competitive this and gun case that. I’ve never been interested in 5v5 scrimming in any serious way, but that’s all CS2 wants me to do.

I want gun game, I want wc3, I want ZM. I want quirky custom maps (glass!) and quake sounds and !bet ct all. I want to fuck around with new friends on a server for an evening, not to sweat my balls off throwing practiced smokes on dust2.

Big agree. Figuring out over building with the interface was so frustrating! Seeing city connectivity too.

Yeah, I am enjoying the age mechanic as a new approach to the formula. It’s not without its flaws, but in previous Civs after a certain point I just stopped playing/didn’t finish games when the outcome was clear. I’m doing that less now.

I was hoping we’d see a new version sometime after the launch of CS2, but even that has had glacial development (still missing modes and maps from CSGO).

I loved the T2 Arcade Game on SNES. This is different but matches the vibe perfectly. Looks awesome!

But I love flailing my hand around like mad to cheesily get a bunch of hits in quickly!!!

Yep. For what it’s worth. I played about six hours today and had an absolute blast. Definitely some UI weaknesses, but I’ve been focusing more on the big changes to the gameplay loop, and I like them so far.

But I’m just some random online.
