I need to rant: This box buster challenge in FFVII:R Intergrade is f-ing ridiculous.
Whoever as Square Enix decided this is how “fun” is defined needs to be firmly slapped across the face and fired. Yes I’ve watched the YouTube videos, I know all the tricks, I’ve been at this for two nights on easy now and I still can’t even make it into the room where you need to do the banishment attack. There is no way to grind, adjusting the difficulty makes no difference, Yuffie throws in her own direction and not the direction you aim the camera, if you continue on in the story you cannot come back, the reward is an EXP boost material which is only useful on your first play through… This shit is NOT fun and it pisses me off.

For me it’s Jessica Chobot replacing the journalist in Mass Effect 2.

I wonder if their long-term game is to open their own storefront on PC to better compete with Steam and Microsoft.

I think if they were to do that, simultaneous PC releases would be far more likely.

I’d say that’s because PCs have become more console-like. I’m personally gaming a lot on a deck now, although I still have zero desire to hunker down behind a desk and fiddle around with a mouse and keyboard, tinkering with settings and whatnot. Deck is a nice middle ground, and having access to a lot of older PC classics is fantastic.

Yeah I probably would never have even gotten into gaming if it weren’t for consoles. PC games are fun, but gaming on a PC is not for everybody.

Most of these also want to lock down their VR as a platform, instead of being ubiquitous hardware like a monitor, and I think lack of standardization is gonna hurt them in the long run by narrowing their audience.

This. This is what I believe is holding back this tech more than anything else. Even pricing. Just make the hardware and let people play with it however they want, just like they could when PCs first became a thing.

We didn’t have much money when we were kids, so when I cousin brought over his SNES with LttP, my mind was totally blown.

I’ll give it less than a week until someone puts an app meant for something else on the App Store that actually just solves this problem for everyone. Then less than 6 months before they make it subscription only.

You say this as if any other Bethesda game had been any different.

I’ll pick it up if it comes to PS5. I hope they’ll be inclined to do the same for ES6.

This is stretching things a bit, but I’d like to throw in Skies of Arcadia if you like retro games. They’re also fantasy Sky-ships instead of real ones.

I have no qualm against the game itself or the developers. And I hope my AI claim didn’t sound like an accusation, just more of an observation, as some of those genre blends seem so awkwardly juxtaposed.

I am legit curious about the game due to the popularity. I might actually get it on deck if it’s a game my buddy and I can have a good laugh with online.

Original demographic? I don’t know man, I’m almost 40 and the Palworld trailer just looks like a bunch of zoomer shit to me. (Which is fine, of course.)

I don’t know anything about this game, but none of the videos look even remotely appealing to me. It just looks like an AI fever dream mishmash of frequency fadding genres. What am I missing with this?

Yeah I get it, but I don’t really mind that sort of stuff. You know what to do, it’s only mildly challenging, traversal is kind of fun. For me it’s relaxing.

I can’t stand rogue-likes or arena style multiplayer games, so I never touch any of that.

I’ve generally stopped buying Ubisoft games not because I don’t want to, but because of an issue with my Connect account. I think I had let my PS3 set one up for me back in the AC2 days with an email that is now long defunct (I deleted it after an acquisition that put my privacy at risk).

Now they want me to verify that email so much that some games have actually refused to let me play. I contacted their “support” to request the option to update my email, proving that the registered email is inactive and that I am in complete control of the linked PlayStation account, but they pretty much told me to kindly F off because they care too much about my privacy (lol).

I like some Ubisoft games, I just don’t have confidence spending money on anything they publish when I don’t know which ones might preemptively lock me out.

I figure I’ll just replace the account entirely at some point, but only when there’s a game I absolutely think would be worth the hassle. It just sucks to see my OG account end up trashed over such a dumb reason.

Steam link doesn’t work for external games added into your steam library? I’m new to steam in general, but it seems weird that they’d let you add a game and not use them with link.

I think I have this game on switch. I only played a little bit and gave up because I sucked so much. Maybe I should do exactly as you are, get it for cheap on deck and scale down the difficulty to story mode. I’ve heard it was a good game.

I’m so glad I forced myself into that series.

That’s too bad. The first time I saw it was at a bitsummit in Kyoto some time ago. I never actually knew how it turned out.

I’ve not played it, but Back in 1995 has always caught my eye.

Rise isn’t nearly as bad as world was. I hope the trend continues in that direction.

Monster Hunter Rise runs wonderfully. I don’t know about world.

Some of the graphical details in the trailer make me wonder if this game is getting dumbed down for a switch release, in which case I’ll opt for a steam version over PS5 since it’ll play nicely on Deck.

My friends brought me kicking and screaming into Unite, then world… it wasn’t until Rise that it finally clicked for me and became fun. Then I went back to world and was blown away.

Yeah, haptic triggers, high definition rumble, touch pad… things like that.

I’ve had playstations for multiple console generations, but I just ordered an OLED Deck as my first ever “gaming PC”. Forgive the naivety, but could non-supported titles potentially get Dualsense features modded in?

I wonder if this was spurred on by the fact that 360 backwards compatibility hamstrung their ability to profit from a lazy port of RDR being sold at a full $60 on other platforms. Best just remove people’s ability to buy anything from that generation in case it happens again.

Comments like this kind of suck when you no longer have the kind of money to “just get a pc”.

That would be fantastic, but it’s really hard for me to have that much faith in corporations. We’ll see though. I was really looking forward to seeing Bethesda make another RPG for PSVR, but I’m sure the odds of that happening now are less than zero thanks to Microsoft.

I might be a little more upset if I could remember the last activision blizzard game I felt was worth playing.

I might pay for the cloud gaming service just long enough to play starfield then cancel

Future Bethesda games are exclusive. They weren’t going to be, but they are now.

Lol. It used to be free before adobe acquired it.
