Dota 2 still. I still suck, but I hope I’m slowly learning.

I have friends that I play with that make it enjoyable, despite the smurfs and bad matchmaking.

The monster x Hunter event is pretty cool

I’m glad you mentioned that, I want aware

How nice of you man. Looking for an offline game for my little cousin, 9. He had really only played shooters, so I’ll take anything you recommend. Sans a recommendation, I’d take bot vice.

TLDW: Foxhole allows the environment to change in ways other games don’t (snow causing direct death, visibility problems, rain causing mud which slows units down etc. ), and also providing options for dealing with these environmental concerns, gives off a realistic war feeling. This in combination with the fact that foxhole allows and requires players to participate in all aspects of fighting a war (material extraction, weapon manufacturing, transport manufacturing, transportation, building of defenses, actual fighting), help provide a feeling of participating in a war that other milsims don’t show.

Admittedly, I feel like this game doesn’t satisfy what people are looking for in a milsim. Foxhole is a top down shooter, while most milsims are over the shoulder 3rd person or 1st person with a huge focus on tactics and execution. Foxhole seems to pull out a bit more, still allowing tactics planning and execution, but overal strategy and logistics are also added into the game.

I don’t feel Deadlock is much of a direct competitor considering that it has a lot of shooter elements, and less MoBa elements. LoL and Dota are definitely strong competitors though.

Lol. Just because I think Lemmy has some around a specific topic does not mean that Reddit doesn’t for sure have a shit ton more.

China trying to keep americans on a Chinese app vs an app they can’t control. Honestly, even here in Lemmy the conversation surrounding the TikTok ban looks like when bots and bad actors were appearing to support trump on Reddit in 2016.

China is still an adversary of the US with lots of human rights abuses and no qualms taking any advantage it can over the US. Zuckeberg isnt really much better, but he’s a harder problem to deal with

Deadlock is really great. I like to go to the enemy base and try to 1v6 people repeatedly. I get angry when my team tries to help or pings me to do mid boss, urn or kill creeps.

NVM found it. Damn doc is getting lamer the more you learn about him. https://www.ggrecon.com/articles/dr-disrespect-calls-out-bethesda-over-starfield-pronouns/ Basically, Starfield mentions your pronoun after character creation and mentions that you can change your pronoun if you like. Doc then looks up someone from Starfield or something looking for their pronouns in the company website. He then says “Its all starting to make sense” in such a way that shows his disapproval of that option being in the game.

Its not some crazy event, but it just adds another thing to a pile of things that show he’s kind of a crappy person. Starfield had mentioned they didn’t want to partner with him due to the previous twitch controversy, I feel his continued actions (getting pissy over this option, that he could completely ignore) really proves Starfield’s decision was a good one.

Wiki is already updated. Sucks this guy sucks. Mad props to the studio though, they terminated a working relationship with their more prominent supporter when they could have tried to ignore the allegations.

Definitely a double edged sword: if you play frequently enough, the game always feels incrementally better. If you don’t play frequently enough, you feel lost. Not great for riot to lose players for that reason

I’ve played Wesnoth and had quite a bit of fun, but what makes it the best hex grid strategy game for you?

You bring up a good point, what I was lacking in my post was the combination of names, permanent death, and the very real threat of death. Not certain if Tactics works in a similar way.

I would second Xcom and add: unlike other strategy games, where each character is a nameless unit, Xcom names your units. Not a big deal, but it is a big enough change where you start to create your own stories, even in your head, for the characters. Playing the game in a not easy game mode, causes you to lose soldier from time to time. This really heightens tension when certain characters die, whom you remember, and when some miraculously live. Its a very small, yet somehow meaningful addition to what would otherwise be an endless sea of soldiers.

IDK why i thought in France, this type of behavior would be looked down upon a lot more than in the US. With that in mind, I’m surprised with what these people are accused with. Hope these guys get what they deserve (which doesn’t look good for them).
