I have played enough games that have lasted enough time to know that it’s not uncommon to be unable to get a voice actor to come back for many reasons up to and including death or retirement. Which results in worse experiences for the player because now there’s just a sudden voice change which is unpleasant. Or your developers are now limited because of scheduling another issues which causes problems.

For them to be able to have a consistent voice throughout without having to rely on that in the voice, actor only has to do a one-time gig get paid in the potentially earn a small annual stipend from the project depending on their contract.

Genai for voices is really really good in that case. You can sell the use of your voice to train a model for a small lump sum with a yearly licensing fee or a large up front sum.

Easier in a more reliable paycheck for the voice actor. As long as the contract is fair and compensation is done correctly and the licensing is on a strictly project by project basis. So no using that trained AI from multiple projects.

Like this is probably the single best example of using genai that we can really hope for. It could be a slight bit better. Sure, but this is already leaps and bounds ahead of anything else.

Bespoke case by case trained AI with contractual agreements for payment in licensing.

And the best part of all of this since it’s contractually agreed, it means no one is forced to do s***

If your “all characters are 18+” is literally anything more than a boilerplate legal disclaimer… Then you might want to reconsider the fuck your doing.

Cause yes you need a disclaimer, but you shouldn’t need a disclaimer …

Don’t need to be a racist piece of shit and attack people mate.

Even if we throw back and look to older tech that would be available in a poor African country you can find 5+ terabytes of storage for less than 30 bucks USD with shipping to African countries.

Your looking at 7200 rpm drives but storage space is not expensive even in the poorest country as long as you don’t demand the cutting edge. Load times will be a problem but if your poor you can still easily find second hand storage in large quantities for cheap. Iv been poor as fucking dirt. It sucks but as the saying goes, you can be poor or stupid. You shouldn’t be both. And as long as you’re smart about it, you can have pretty decently nice things for really really cheap. It’s just not going to be new and it’s going to be real hard to find but it’s doable.

So again, that take isn’t remotely privileged. It’s poorly stated sure, but the point being made is accurate.

Your take on the other hand is fucking disgusting and you should sit down and shut up.

Realistically a single drive should be 3-4 terabytes in 2025… A 4 terabyte sata is like 200-230 bucks for a middling drive on Amazon right now.

Having 8 terabytes of storage is not hard to have. It’s not like you can’t put more storage in your PC. Seriously I would question anyone with less then even just 5 terabytes.

To be fair that’s still an issue of out dated rigs.

It’s an understandable problem, but it is a “you” problem more then anything.

Companies could do a lot more to compress files and reduce file size but then you just move the problem from storage space to out dated CPUs with long load times and poor performance.

Really having less then 3-4 terabytes at this point is baffling.

Uhh… Basically every language I can think of have had some form of childhood activity that pushed learning it’s asinine rules at some point in it’s history.

Cause fun fact.

Literally every language that has ever existed is batshit crazy, makes no sense and might as well be unhinged nonsense.

That’s not a monopoly English has. Not by a fucking long shot.

That guy’s comment is racist as fuck tho

In this instance not effective is 100% not effective.

Both kernel and non kernel anti cheat are equally effective in actual practice. In both cases your preventing kids, lazy and low knowledge users from cheating. But anyone who is willing to spend any amount of money to cheat can easily find someone who will provide them with a bypass.

In both cases the anti cheat is only as good as the on going support from the devs of both the anti cheat and the game.

You can’t control what a client does end of the day

Most people as in the VAST majority get the cheapest thing they can find and then use it as long as possible.

You functionally are always 5 years ahead of the curve of you buy the best thing available and then use it for 5-7 years.

While people are a bit over the top. A 960 is a decade old and 3gigs literally wouldn’t be able to turn on with a large number of games released this year even on the lowest settings.

It’s objectively out of date. Hell lanythjng ess then 6 gigs frequently crashes or flat out refuses for the most part.

Your literal hard cut off is basically this year with unreal 5. Ue4 games, most proprietary engines like decima, frostbyte or dandelion all will do fine at 3gigs of vram. But they are last targeting last gen consoles as their low end. So your low end is looking back around 6-8 years.

2025 has been almost exclusively full of games that are finally dropping support entirely for that standard and the new standard is 6-8 gigs of vram minimums and 16-24 gigs of available ram not counting system utilization.

Going forward if you don’t have a 6gig card and 16 gigs of ram. You functionally don’t have a computer that can do new high end games. And fuck that’s not even a hard ask. We NEED to move the fuck on from 3gig cards and 8gigs of ram.

Hell a few games are even pushing for 8gig vram/20gig ram as the minimum. But I doubt that’s going to catch on.

Iv also come across a few Chinese games that flat out won’t install if you have a spinning hard drive in your system at all full stop. Not that you can’t install to one, it flat out won’t let you install it to any drive.

At some point we do need to just move the fuck on and accept hardware is out of date. And a full ten fucking years. Is a pretty damn good arbitrary line. Gaming is a very specific work load and it’s getting noticeable how problematic it is in multiplayer games between having allies with shit computers and good ones.

Having 10+ min wait times after your queue cause a random is working off a low end PC and a spinning drive to start a dungeon in an mmo. Is fucked.

System76 laptops are in my experience worse than frameworks.

But they are also less effort. So pick your poison.

As long as it’s a 3xxx or 4xxx Nvidia card honestly its just as good as Nvidia now as long as you arnt being dumb and trying to use Debian or mint or something that has a massively out of date kernel on a new laptop.

Your option is basically only framework if you want good hardware.

If you don’t mind low end stuff then you have plenty of options.

Literally every higher end laptop gets called a gaming laptop… It’s a nothing term. Even the absolute least flashy laptop with no RGB and is basically just a glorified Thinkpad with a 4080 mobile in it gets called a gaming laptop just cause of the 4080.

Saying don’t buy a gaming laptop basically means you can’t buy literally any good high end hardware full stop.

It’s a short sighted and frankly stupid piece of advice that just hurts people.

The Alienware bit tho, that’s spot on. 100% fuck em.

Every game iv bought on steam doesn’t require the client to launch expect for one. So not sure how well that point checks out…

Damn never seen a sober man so confidently wrong on something so straight forward.

By that fucking logic anything more thqn 512kb and dos is privilege.

Get the actual fuck out of here with that bullshit.

Even the cheapest shit boxes from dell have had more then 4 gigs of ram for over a decade.

When a 300 dollar dell ewaste netbook has it, it’s the bare minimum.

The PC wiki actually has a dedicated field for if steam games require it or not. It’s rare if not close to never that you don’t know ahead of time if you actually look.

Its annoying it’s not on the store page but eh.

Like 95% of steam games are drm free… The only reason steam has to be running is cause games are bundled with a dll that enables the overlay, cloud sync etc. it’s just removable and your games don’t rely on steam at all.

No check in, no drm, no nothing.

It’s basically only the biggest triple A games that use steamDRM.

People are stupid and think steam is drm. It’s that simple. For what ever reason people don’t realize that 95% of all games on steam are entirely drm free. Just remove the overlay and you don’t even need steam turned on to play games.

It would likely result in endless corporate backstabbing, exclusive deals, contracts fights, and patent trolling

Which would likely result in horrid quality of life for the end user. Having to maintain countless accounts and subscriptions to have even fractional access to games.

It would likely also fuck over the studios and indie developers who would be shoved aside or relentlessly bought up in a ever growing attempt to grow.

More competition does not always mean things are better for the consumer. You can see the exact same thing played out with the recent rise and now slow descent to streaming services. As we went from one good one that turned into a horrible one as the sharehold is demanded it, then more rows and then things only became worse.

When you start operating at the sort of scale that the internet does, true, the whole competition thing being better for the consumer rarely works out.

You more frequently just end up with a bunch of greedy companies endlessly trying to one-up each other f****** over everyone in their attempts resulting in no one-winning, not the company, not the developers creators or middlemen nor and definitely not least the consumer.

True competition benefiting the consumer also requires there to be a connection to the consumer in a reason to actually service them. The companies need to be fighting for the consumer and not just each other. But that is all capitalism is turned into. The consumer is no longer the end goal. They’re just fighting each other to stomp them out so that all that’s left is themselves.

It’s been shown time and time again for decades now at at sufficient size competition just by itself does not help. The only thing that is repeatedly shown to be helpful is private companies with a good person at their home. Not trying to be a greedy f***.

And it’s showing time and time again. Every time that person retires the company sold their holders. Found public offerings made things just get worse.

The problem is not monopolies are bad. It’s not. The competition is good. It’s at public companies are a problem in the law forcing companies to do everything in their power to please. The shareholders is killing everything.

Stop recommending bazzite, just r commend cachy.

It has a steam deck iso. It’s based on the same thing steamos is built on.

Bazzite is literally the worse option and more likely to lead to problems.

Bazzite is just a shit option vs using cachy. It’s the same goal and work load target. And bazzite manages to just be worse in every respect.

Your like 5+ years out of date with your preconceptions of arch.

Arch at this point is breaks less from updates than most other options if your using a prebuild like endeavour or cachy.

Fuck even the aur breaks shit less than windows breaks which is literally the bar for stability for your avg normies.

Immutable distros will become a massive fucking headache. Just watch

It means if it’s a professional poker tournament, or horse betting stream. From a properly regulated and sanctioned sourced then your fine.

If your gambling fucking counter strike skins. Your not fine.

Which is exactly in line with what the law is. Vegas casinos are fine, illegal underaged child gambling is not.

Everything in life is politics. It’s impossible to separate the two to be fair.

How fucking blind are you man, there’s plenty get off Twitter and look around.

All statements on the internet are your exact opinion and entirely at face value that’s why we invented the /S

We arnt fuking mind readers mom!

Rule 1 you do not get better instructions, manuals and documentation then arch and it’s family. Full stop. It’s great

It also pisses off new users frequently when they start to try to use any community tools for most games… Bazzite is a fucking nightmare for gaming because of it. It’s God damn funny counter productive issue.

The steam deck has the same problem to be fair.

Also historically is right, installing drivers has been trivial on every distro I can possibly think of for the last fuck, almost 20 years.

There have been one click gui installers for fucking ever at this point. Lol

Arch. Use cachyOS which is arch it’s just what steamOS is but with a focus on also being a normal desktop on top.

Seriously do not understand why people push bazzite when it’s just a more complicated less supported option compared to cachyOS. For the exact same work load.

CACHYOS literally ANYTHING arch based.

There’s a REAL good reason steam uses arch. A REALLY REALLY GOOD ONE.

How fedora still struggles to keep up sometimes which has always confused me why people suggest a bazzite. Not to mention how many community tools and communities that are starting to support Linux. Only support Arch and don’t support anything else.

Which means you now have new users trying to figure out how to f*** to compile or install software outside of their package managers without a flat pack or anything. Just to use the same community tools that they used on Windows.

While it’s just in the aur because it’s supported. Seriously cachyOS is such a easier solution for new comers.

The problem with bazzite is it’s just an objectively worse option then cachyOS if your using your PC exclusively to game.

Immutable distros and the lack of aur can be such a massive pain in the fucking ass if you play games with a lot of community tools.

Almost exclusively every community tool I’ve ever seen for any game only ever supports Arch and never anything else. So while you can use other things, it sucks to have to compile it all yourself every f****** update.

If you need a computer that’s reliable for office work, use Debian, if you want a more console-like experience and less likely it’ll break your computer, use bazzite, if you want to be able to use new hardware, the moment it’s released to the market have the best compatibility with all games and software and the widest range of supported hardware and software use cachyOS.

Debian is stable because it updates so slowly. It makes sure everything works under pain of death. So having compatibility issues, new hardware being supported, having to do weird little things for a less than popular application is pretty normal. But if it works, it’s literally the most stable thing you can possibly put on a computer.

Bazzite it’s kind of your middle ground. It’s up to date in 95% of all cases while support. Basically everything but it is immutable which makes it hard to tinker with or change things should you need to. Which is both a benefit and a downside. Does mean you’re less likely to break your computer while you’re learning on the flip side.

CachyOS is based on Arch the most up-to-date core that you can have for any computer. It’s what steamos is based on in many other bleeding edge options. It has a focus on hardware support, gaming support, software support doing so as up-to-date as physically possible. If you need something to be supported, it’s more likely to be supported here than anywhere else. While the old joke Arch likes to randomly break itself isn’t untrue. It’s also about 15 years out of date in how true it is. Modern Arch rarely ever breaks and when it does so will every other option barring debian almost exclusively.

Realistically speaking, when it comes to actually installing and using any of these options day-to-day, they’re completely identical. Typically, if you have the ability to rub two brain cells together, read and have even a 5th grade level of critical thinking skills. If you’re planning on gaming as your main use of your computer not work, not art, just gaming, just use cachyOS.

There is one last thing to be aware of when choosing any option. If it’s based on Arch, it’s going to have the best documentation in the most user-friendly possible way. Arch has the single. Best, wiki there is. Which for a new user can be a godsend if you actually know how to read.

You own your games on steam just as much as you do on gog for like 99% of them. The majority of steam games have no form of drm.

Out of my 2000 ish steam games less then 50 actually use drm that ties them to steam and those are basically only triple A games that arnt on gog anyways.

Just remove the overlay and the VAST majority of games just work with out steam entirely.
