I think maybe the root of the conflict is that it only works if you are fine with Microsoft’s “design” choices… cloud accounts, one drive integration, taskbar on bottom

Grouping these three things together and then labelling the group ‘design choices’ is wild

A console is typically locked down; they can sell them at cost or a loss and make up the money selling games. A computer is typically not locked down, you can install games from wherever on it, so they can’t assume you’ll buy your games from them (even though you will)

It’d be really funny if it’s designed specifically not to meet Windows 11’s arbitrary requirements. You can install Linux though! :D

for real this time

That’s what they said last time. Actually, I think this is what I said last time, too.

Can’t wait for the next update

Dude’s not wrong, serious fans will find the money for it…but I think he vastly overestimates how many people are serious fans of Borderlands.

As in, distributed storage a la I2P or Freenet, so that there is no central company or person to send copyright threats to

Lion King 2 was pretty good. Also, direct to VHS

Uhh…there was a Brother Bear 2?

Yeah, they mention it obliquely at the end, but it really should be more obviously stated. Presumably they assume anyone reading the article is already familiar with the game

Another game I simply won’t need to buy

I mean, that would be the case whether it was online-only or not; it’s a free-to-play game

It’s rated M because of moderators poor understanding of ‘gambling’

High Dynamic Range, tl;dr it’s better graphics, but ultimately inconsequential to most users

The port is legal. The trick is that it doesn’t include any Nintendo IP-- you have to supply your own ROM

So yeah. Not that ‘Zionist’ is a slur

Edit: Really, shitty censorship bot? We’re adulterating URLs now, and selectively only that specific slur? Gross on both counts

Make 'em require an online patch to be playable after first install.

Actually, I should shut the fuck up, they might actually hear me

Portability is nice, it’s the same appeal as having Skyrim on the Switch, except it renders Skyrim and many more games much better than the Switch could ever dream of

maybe we as a society could standardize fridge sizes so we could build fridges that open on the inside but radiate on the outside

That would be more useful for places where houses are generally air conditioned

The only difference is the words they have to use. They aren’t making this change by choice

You could, but you wouldn’t

I was going to pipe in that I paid for Minecraft in infdev, so pre-alpha. But now that you mention it, it was dirt cheap, and they had already had several free access weekends in indev, so I had a pretty good idea of what I was getting myself into

It can store enough energy to output 85MW for 100 hours, which is 8.5GWh. That’s also probably very optimistic math, unless it actually stores more than 8.5GWh, and that’s the reduced value accounting for losses
