I live an increasingly confusing double life as TeaHands the game dev, and TheGiddyStitcher, multicrafter extraordinaire!

Currently working on my first ever commercial indie game, a minimalist city builder.

I’m still using the v1 headset but have to admit this would probably tip me over into upgrading.

Played through it with my husband, usually on an evening after work, and discovered that no matter how stressed or annoyed you are the Outer Wilds intro / menu is just instant relaxation. Like sliding into a whole other world where everything is going to be ok.

This seems pretty normal to me. I used to get a 6 month WoW sub for my birthday in summer and then again at Christmas and that was what, over 15 years ago. Also I was an adult, but still, hobby supplies are a great gift.

So many people make the same mistake, you are definitely not alone. VERY different games though.

Until Dawn and all the similar games that came since can be pretty good for this. They are set up with a mode where she could control characters if she wants, but otherwise just playing through the story with you controlling everything and her helping make the decisions is a fun time. Play these with my husband every year as part of our Halloween traditions, you can actually learn a lot about a person by seeing what decisions they go with😅

If it was just the constant violence in TLOU that was her issue these could work, although fair warning if she’d prefer absolutely no violence (or horror) at all then I’m gonna just be a second vote for Outer Wilds instead.

Outer Wilds, not to be confused with The Outer Worlds!

Great suggestion. Me and my partner “play” a lot of games together where one of us controls but both get to have input and make decisions, and this is a fantastic example.

Pretty sure they were on about making a LotR MMO at some point? No idea what else they were up to though.

I can’t help you with this, as I just logged in to IsThereAnyDeal to check if they had a way to add notes to a wishlisted item and it seems they don’t.

BUT, thank you for making this post because it turned out Aven Colony was on sale for £3.19 and I must have missed their email!

Ctrl-F Outer Wilds

Ah yes, thank you for beating me to it. It’s been years since I first played and I still think about it almost every day.

Remember to make your intro post! Tag it with #introduction plus the tags for whatever else you’re into. Let the people come to you! 😄

Had it for ages but it’s just been sitting in the “to play” list. Perhaps this a sign it needs to be bumped up!

Not familiar with the game in question, but look at games like Deep Rock Galactic. No pay to win there, but they sell plenty of purely cosmetic “supporter” DLC because people do in fact like to show support when they think they’ve got a good deal and are enjoying the game.

Amazed. AMAZED that it’s taken this long to get this tie in.
