They had to drop support because the chromium steam uses to display the store and many other things dropped support for those OS, so their hand was forced to fix security holes. I suspect a similar situation here - as long as the browser supports it, they will keep support for win10 alive.

Early access titles and games with workshop support i get on steam - EA titles have the tendency to not update timely on GOG, and i take workshop support over stuff like mod.io or manually browsing and downloading any day. Otherwise i prefer GOG.

I switched over to Linux a year ago, i chose nobara, which doesn’t have any obvious issues with my setup - they even made a small GUI tool for switching between open and closed, stable and beta Nvidia Drivers with a few clicks, which is a lot more comfortable than anything i experienced on windows. So i can attest that if it’s done right, Nvidia cards do their job just fine under linux.

The limiting factor is my VRAM, which simply isn’t enough for 1440p if i want games to look good too. reducing the Resolution is doesn’t look too good :-/

Thanks for reassuring me! The more i upgrade this system, the more i am scared to make a misstep - this pc has grown a lot over the last year, and the GPU switch is the last thing i can reasonably change to max this AM4 platform out, everything else will need a new Mainboard/CPU/Ram, and with the current DDR5 prices this is simply not a sound financial decision.

I didn’t know about that site, thanks! it even mentioned both the necessary bios update for the cpu and that one pcie 4x slot gets deactivated when the M.2 slot is used - i knew that, but i’m impressed they implemented that.

That makes me pretty optimistic about my chances, thank you!

Looking to upgrade, compatibility question
Hi! As the title says, I am thinking about upgrading my system for the last time to max out the current build. Mainboard: Asrock AB350 Pro4 with a PCIE4.0 16x slot CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X Ram: 64BG DDR4-3200 Current GPU: Nvidia 3070Ti 8GB PSU: 800W, more than enough. Storage: 1 TB M.2, 2TB M.2 SSD /w extra controller in a PCIE 4x slot, a fuckton of HDD storage I am thinking about switching out the 3070TI with it's measly 8GB VRAM that is simply not doing it for 1440p Gaming with a AMD RX 9060XT 16GB, which is pretty cheap and available right now, esp when i take the resale value of my 3070TI into account, which would account for a bit over 100€ for the upgrade, which is quite substantial in performance. I cannot for my life find any compatibility information between my Mainboard and the AMD Card. I know i lose a little bit of performance because it's a PCIE5 Card in a PCIE4 Slot, which to my knowledge shouldn't be too much of an issue, but i wanted to ask if anyone has knowledge if there are issues with compatibility here.

I must say, i’m not that much into narrative visual novels, because i have the need to be active while playing. Dispatch found the sweet spot for me - the story and voice acting are great, and the minigames keep me busy enough so i don’t feel like a passive spectator. I really liked this one, and the backstory of the studio that nearly went bankrupt before coming to their well deserved fame makes it even better.

I hope they put out the last FF VII remake part before that, so i can finally start playing them all! I don’t care what they want to waste their money on afterwards lol

That’s because of the awful spaghetti code that is the basis of Space Engineers. I gave up on that game years ago, because those devs were vibe coding before it was cool, and it shows.

Ok now AMD has done it, i’m confused.

Exactly. A specifically trained model could even run locally on the GPU, no need for always online, but at the cost of increased hardware requirements, especially VRAM.

Well i must say that it is probably one of the applications where it makes the most sense; Hallucinations don’t matter if it’s in a game, and it makes characters more lifelike and less NPC. I can get behind that!

The market for a good middle class GPU at a normal price is wide open and Intel could make a lot of bank if they do it right. Alas, Intel has the tendency to fail to capitalize on such openings; they probably set the price for those cards way to high to be considered a contender.

I do the same, but i know i have a game hoarding problem, and i don’t want to lose my grandfathered in “i get all games in the bundle” - perk. And Tbh, i didn’t have a month yet where i didn’t get at least my moneys worth; if anything, the games i didn’t know about prevented me from spending more.

  • Atomic Heart is a trippy experience, i liked what i saw.
  • V Rising is cool, so is the System Shock Remake!
  • Cryptmaster is a great game, i really enjoyed it!

This one was an informative and fun watch lol

It’s also the old hardware where no open source drivers exist. To clarify: open source drivers and firmware for phone modules are about as common as unicorns.

my guess it’s hardware support; drivers and firmware for existing hardware and smartphone components for linux are probably close to nonexistent. The apk support is the smallest issue.

Yeah, i agree on that; when i heard that i thought about jumping in for a month and playing it again; it actually is pretty fun, but it’s simply too expensive to buy in. I would be happy if other games with lots of DLC or expensive DLC considered something similar; Paradox games are the first thing that come to mind, but there’s other stuff like Rimworld where you can drop 100 Bucks on expansions that i simply do not have.

I’ve pulled an allnighter with this game after letting it sit in my library since it was in early access, it’s fucking awesome! i’ve stopped an hour ago because i realized that i started to slow down and make more mistakes; gonna take a nap and then it’s on again lol

And yes, Death to Chronos!

I’m glad we’re both having a good time with that game.

Yes, there are meta upgrades; the gear is a parallel system to those upgrades.

And yes, things are more straightforward; you always get a few unlocks that you are close to shown at the start of a run.

I have Soulstone Survivors here, but didn’t have time to try it out yet, so i can’t say anything to compare the two.

Progression is slower than other survivor games, but they have increased the pace and added a mechanic with gear drops, which smooths out the curve and actually makes builds possible. All in all it’s one of the top survivor games i’ve played. I would place Vampire Survivors (because of the huge amount of content) and Halls of Torment (because i absolutely love the style) above it, but for me DRG:S is a solid 3rd place (and i’ve played quite a lot of bullet heavens)

Cronos: The new Dawn, it has a great Dead Space feeling. I’m not far yet, but i like what i’ve seen so far.

and Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor has hit 1.0, so if i’m looking for something to play without having to think that’s my goto this week.

That was really an obvious sign that this list is trash, i agree
