Yeah, there’s no avoiding getting fucked by a big company without existing collective action, it’s inevitable. However, for tech workers in general (not just game devs), the benefits used to outweigh the screwing. Now it’s almost entirely screwing

I mean, when you’re being treated more fairly by your employer, you may not consider that forming a union is still necessary in the inevitable event that they rug pull those benefits at some point.

And I’ve got nothing against miners (other than standard environmental concerns), but when they keep voting for the people that strip away every small gain their ancestors literally fought and died for, I stop having sympathy.

Also, what on earth are primarily West Coast based tech workers gonna do about miners in the Virginias? There’s an entire continent between them.

Well, outside of game dev, tech workers were making shit loads of money.

Game devs been fucked up for years now, but the original comment just said “tech workers”

I mean, for years and years, even after the dotcom bubble, developers have been able to get crazy high salaries, job security, and tons of other perks. Now that that’s gone, at least they’re doing something. So many other professions just rolled over and let the businesses fuck them (looking at you, every industry from Virginia down, especially mining)

Edit: the comment I’m replying to says “tech workers”, not just game devs. Game devs have unfortunately always been the poorly treated little black sheep of the tech world.

I’ll believe it on the day it drops lol. Until then, I’m looking forward to 1.7

Edit: Called it

Ah, that’s right.

The horizon devs really need to get together with From Soft so that’ll stop happening

Oh yeah, I forgot just how bad the timing of both releases were. Didn’t the second games dlc also drop right around Shadow of the Erdtree?

I do wanna point out that one of the Horizon games (I believe the second) got pretty screwed by releasing within a week of Elden Ring and didn’t suck. Publishers big and small do need to be careful to not release within a time frame of absolutely massive releases such as Elden Ring and, inevitably, GTA6.

Even if the game doesn’t let you play on release day, I’m willing to bet my kidney that it’ll sell millions of copies and nothing big will be released within a month of it

Any chance you could also recommend a place to find a totally legit copy of bloodborne? Couldn’t find anything on the yo ho ho subreddit

What emulator are you using? Only one I’ve seen was PCSX4 and according to a lot of stuff I saw online, it’s a pretty outright scam

Panam is the other romancable character. If you do her entire side story (which is quite good) and choose the right options throughout, you’ll have the option to romance her near the end of the game. She’s only attracted to characters with a masculine body.

The romances in general are very easy to screw up. You lock yourself out of several right at character creation unfortunately. Here’s what you need for character creation to get each romance:

Judy: Feminine voice and body Kerry: Masculine voice and body River: Feminine body Panam: Masculine body

As long as you meet the requirements, you can romance 2 people in vanilla, though there’s something at the end of the game that requires you to pick one of them

You also need to do their side missions, but you meet each of them in the course of the main story. There’s also 4 romantic encounters that sadly don’t go anywhere serious.

You can get it on with Meredith Stout, the militech lady who threatens you near the start of the game. If you don’t insult her, you can get another mission from her in act 2. There’s also 3 encounters that can happen, but those are potential story spoilers

You can romance in Cyberpunk, but the romances have gender preferences. Judi and River will only romance women, Kerry and the other one I’ve never actually met will only romance men.

Valid lol. I was more trying to come up with a list of games you could get for probably a combined like 30 bucks during sales

Agreed in my case, but I don’t think Factorio is for everyone realistically

Plus, all those games regularly go on sale for super cheap and factorio has and will never go on sale

In my personal opinion, the steam starter pack should be:

  • Portal 1+2
  • Terraria
  • Gary’s Mod
  • Tabletop Sim
  • Fallout New Vegas
  • Stardew Valley

Yeah, I read the headline and thought “they hadn’t done that already?”

Ah, good to know!

Yeah, idk how well wow would translate to controller, though last time I played Cataclysm had just dropped so idk how it plays anymore

Wouldn’t be surprised if we got a WoW port for consoles at some point. PS4 has FF14 as their main MMO and I don’t know if it’s even on Xbox

They’ve actually all finished the story afaik. And all the things you listed were the main reasons they all didn’t like the game.

Can you tell me what you liked about it? I’m not a fan in general (looter shooters like that just aren’t my thing), but all my friends are, and none of them have ever had a positive thing to say about 3, with opinions ranging from meh at best to absolutely awful. Hell, even the guy in our group who unironically loves bad games even had nothing good to say

Considering their recent lawsuit, them ripping off Minecraft is hilarious

Oh god, please nobody ever make this. We’ll run out of engineers and programmers within days

Why’d you bring up tem tem specifically? It’s supposed to be “Pokemon but an MMO”. That’s the entire appeal. I had Pokemon loving friends that played it at launch and loved it dearly. It’s sad that it’s died, but if you want a single player version of tem tem, there’s about 22 Pokemon games according to Bulbapedia. Go play one of those.

Steam does an indie show case almost every week, to the point it’s almost annoying. Idk how you’ve apparently missed every single one of them

The mod for artificer is excellent! It’s a touch unbalanced, especially if you take the correct infusion, but overall I had a ton of fun with it last playthrough!

Do be aware that if you go Battle Smith, the “upgraded” robot you get in act 3 doesn’t auto navigate well. We’d get across the map and he’d still be chilling at the blushing mermaid. The basic robot also struggles on navigation, but not nearly as badly

It should be quite a few mods. The beta testers have reported being able to do a ton of stuff way easier

The delay does suck though

That’s fair.

I also can’t blame them for ditching WotC ASAP. Their legacy properties feel like pump and dumps lately. Take a look at how many magic sets released in 2010 compared to today. Then their reportedly “backwards compatible” 5.5e isn’t gonna be backwards compatible at all, and despite a decade of feedback, they still managed to fuck up more than one class completely. Bank of America dropped their ass for extreme product fatigue.

I wouldn’t want to bet my company’s future on WotC. I wouldn’t want to bet my worst enemy’s future on WotC’s.

I think that’s true for everything but civ 2. It seems like everyone agrees 2 is just better

Yeah, I remember being shocked to hear Round8 was Korean! I can’t think of another Korean game that wasn’t a gacha MMO Mobile game.

Definitely sounds like an interesting concept. I can also imagine some people seeing it as developers not actually making a game, instead getting their community to do the work.

I think maybe letting people design a building or block at a time, then doing voting and integrating the winner into the game could be a neat way to go about it

Have we hit the “underrated classic” phase of DS2? Awesome, I loved the game!

The GOTY edition is $16 bucks on GOG right now (at least in America). If you do that, you can just install the mod and launch without down patching.

Agreed. If CA charged a few bucks for the 1.6 update, I’d have bought it without hesitation. Same with 1.5.

The best example right now is Factorio. There’s a new expansion coming out in October. It isn’t free, but it adds basically an entire new game on top of an already excellent and fully fleshed out game. I’m gonna buy it the day it goes on sale without question and without waiting for reviews.

Then there’s crap like Starfield where they added 1 mission for $7.

Slay the Spire is current $8.50. Starbound is $4.50 (both are on sale rn for future readers) if you’re looking for a space game.

They’re in horrible legal ground. What they did was illegal (though not necessarily wrong), but now they’re risking dying on this hill, which will cause people to lose a valuable service. They need to surrender the hill before it’s too late, if it’s not too late already
