Yea they don’t want to have to pay for IT people that know anything more than scripts.

They didn’t force them to throw away PCs. They have alternative options. People chose to be angry instead of doing anything about it.

It’s the shit people bitch about Apple for doing, but it’s somehow adorable when Microsoft does it.

My friends and I have this imaginary scenario of funny things we could do with lots of money. A few that come to mind:

  • buy all the properties around gated community/HOA entrances and exits. build low income housing.
  • create an organization that intentionally donates to horrible causes on the condition you can say they accepted the money even if they return it. use the logo and organization name as a canary to warn everyone at a glance something is shady.
  • start an online youtube-like platform that shares the ways the fuck you money is being used hilariously. allow reposts to other platforms like youtube, but never take down our own shit, making any of their attempts to censor it self harming.

I think I’m going to start referring to this scenario as #withGabeNewellsmoney

I never understood the appeal of anything rich people like. A yacht? An HOA? A supercar? These don’t appeal to me at all. If given them I would hate them.

I mean it might be fun to buy a politician but otherwise it sounds boring.

Business majors are so incredibly dumb. Why did we as a society decide they were so important?

Which is again proving my point. Steam is selling games to people with enterprise licenses.

No, they are killing it unless you pay and extra $30 a month and use a Microsoft account and kill local accounts.

Windows 10 support is ending soon so there’s no reason to have it on your steam deck. Steam will stop supporting it sooner after Microsoft does, just like steam does with Apples operating system.

Microsoft’s kicking third parties out of the kernel because of crowdstrike. Secure boot is a completely different thing Microsoft can’t kick people out of.

  1. New keys have already been released and you can always just create and enroll your own damn keys. This is sensationalist nonsense.
  2. “Check my privilege” over secure boot? Calm down, Karen.
  3. I think gaming on PC is going to get interesting in the coming decade as Microsoft kicks third parties out of the kernel (thanks crowdstrike!) and more and more people just stop putting up with windows. Enterprise in the US is hooked but everyone else? Na, they are gonna drop it.

Edit: these are listed as 1,3,and 4 in my post in voyager but lemmy shows 123. Interesting.

This is outdated information. Linux has supported secure boot for quite a while now.

  1. You can run more than one OS with secure boot enabled. It’s just a pain in the ass.
  2. you can run unsigned code on a secure boot enabled system.
  3. its 2025, what the fuck do you have that can’t secure boot by now?
  4. THIS is your winning argument.

I was looking a for more VRAM than 8 gigs. The 9060XT cards are compelling but the encoders are shit on AMD, especially compared to Intel. Intel may get SR-IOV in battlemage eventually whereas AMD never will get it in the consumer cards. The prices are better with Intel.

I want a server that can run jellyfin, frigate, and sunshine and the B580 seems like a better fit l for that.

Yes-ish. Rockchip can choose wether it want to support its chips in Linux at all. Many of these companies just make it work and Android and anything else is just a niche market giving them a little bonus.

Honestly kind of considering a battlemage GPU for an upcoming build. I certainly won’t go with nvidia but for what I actually need, the intels are kinda acceptable anymore.

I thought Rockchip said they were getting out of the SBC game after their chips were found in Russian drones.

Ugh, that sounds incredibly unpleasant. I felt that comment on a psychic level and it was….mushy.

Paypal has a reputation for this kind of thing from before Trump 2.0 though. They’ve ben doing this since at least 2003.

You know what? I’m going to buy some yaoi on steam out of spite. Spite yaoi.

PayPal wouldn’t dare attack Steam for accepting external payment methods with rules they don’t agree with and can’t change because they don’t own those companies. In addition to opening them up to potential lawsuits, it could catastrophically backfire if Valve simply said “fine, we don’t accept PayPal anymore, but we do accept crypto now.”

PayPal would die in a week. The investors would drag out a guillitine by the next earnings call.

I’d imagine it’s sort of like reading porn rather than watching porn. Different people are activated by different things.

Because it’s not their fucking money! If someone is selling a thing, offers to sell it to me for money, and I give them money, I get the fucking thing! The processors can fuck right off with their Victorian bullshit.

Did you just rule 34 that “first they came for…” poem? Jesus Christ. Bravo, but still.

That’s the entire point of this. They want to control everything in your life, including the pervy things that affect literally nobody. The entire point is to restrict happiness to things they control. Anything they don’t control is bad.

I think the porn games are stupid but they don’t harm people at all so there is no reason for them not to exist.

In other news, I have a similar form of financial censorship. For years, I have refused to accept or send money through PayPal and its sister products.

Wait a minute, PayPal is pulling puritanical bullshit again? Did they learn nothing from the last time they tried that?

I think they were trying to lean too hard into the warring gamers battling it out, and the black woman represented the original PSP while the white woman represented the new white PSP, player 2.

But they put it on a fucking billboard where the only context we have to go by is beating the shit out of a black chick. What they fuck did they expect people to think?

Like artistically I can see what they were aiming for with this but they not only failed to understand the medium and audience, but when the obvious interpretation came to their attention they did not fucking care.

Just incredible.

I’m surprised you didn’t post that PSP ad with the white lady beating the shit out of the black lady…to promote the sale of a white PSP.

Hmm you’re right. It looks like it CAN draw more power but under the same load would draw less. How did I make that mistake? Thanks for correcting me.

TDPs the same? Bah! I’m looking at a 7900 build and this would be two generations that cannot match its energy efficiency.
