Here’s an example of the split screen not running at full width on Black Ops 3

https://youtu.be/FcNHlqup4tM

And here’s how it used to look on Black Ops 1: https://youtu.be/lnF2W-e7e8Q

I’m not so sure about the latest versions, if they made local split screen better.

Black Ops 3 has the Kino der Toten map split screen but it doesn’t run full width. I’m pretty sure the same map on Black Ops 1 did run full width.

My favorite moments with these games were always playing locally, and having that keeps the game playable for as long as you own it and a working console.

A full width split screen zombies mode, and a full lobby of people who want to play Kino Der Toten are pretty much the only thing that would interest me in another COD BLOPS title.

I just can’t imagine who these titles are for now. I appreciate they’re trying to make the graphics and sound amazing, but these online experiences, as imagined by the developers, have taken away more than they’ve given.

The last modern warfare title I bought was MW2, that bizarro named one. I opened it a few weeks ago and the whole game has become a loader to other COD games and its multiplayer lobbies are empty. So stupid and I wish I could get a refund.

Do you remember the era of popups before popup blockers? You’d land on malicious site and have autoplay porn sounds 37 windows deep and just have to long press the power button to get away from the shame. Twas rough then, still rough now.

Unless we’re talking about the days when lynx could render the whole site. Those were days when we didn’t have too many problems like this.

I think the fundamental problem with ipv6 is that it’s a bit more complex to learn than ipv4 and not universally deployed at the remote host/server level.

New cloud companies who want to be competitive have to purchase ipv4 blocks at significant cost reducing their ability to compete with the incumbent players.

So if you go 100% ipv6 at home, some percentage of the internet will be inaccessible to you unless you employ some workarounds.

We’ll drop ipv4 quite fast once everything is up on ipv6 because nearly every modern network enabled device supports it.

The only reason I think we’ve not gotten over the hump is because our alternatives are still easy enough to work with and nobody requires it.

You might be right, probably worth looking into. I just have so little time to invest in new titles or any learning curve or really any game that takes a ton of grinding before it’s fun

Let me share my Xbox experience? I’m mid-40s. Owned Xboxes since literally the OG Xbox 1.

I originally bought this thing to play with my brother split screen. Nowadays I want to play split screen with my son.

Yet somehow there’s no fucking split screen games anymore. The last two or three AAA games I purchased I played for a few hours and then never loaded again.

And the other day when I loaded up call of duty Black ops 3 to play zombies (this is like a 10 year old game now) I found that because I let my Xbox Gold live whatever the fuck subscription expire, I can’t play “online” and use my unlocked items even though I’m doing local play.

So from this guy what in the fucking fuck xbox. This is some kind of device designed to clean out my wallet for eternity and not deliver what I actually want.

I pretty much exclusively use my Xbox as a YouTube player now.

I remember playing Quake 2 in the dorm at university. This was right as everybody was getting LAN access in their room. Absolutely nostalgic.

A bit pissed at this possibility. Games that I bought many years ago require me to be signed in to use my unlocks, even during solo play.

I’m pretty sure Genshin has made similar billions and they give it away for free.

Pay to win seems to be the ultimate business model.

GTA 6 is just going to be client app to a universe of micro transactions. They should probably just give it away free.

Isn’t it true that AI generated content cannot be copyrighted? I had assumed that ruling would cause big brand owners to avoid it… unless they are documenting every artist’s work along the way, admitting to using it sometimes could blow holes in their brand.

I live in Southeast Asia and had no idea there was an Indiana Jones 5. But I don’t pay attention to any celebrity news or go to the theater much. Don’t watch TV much and have ad blockers installed on all my systems. But I did watch all the original Indiana Jones movies so might look this one up.

The strategy makes a lot of business sense too. It’s why piracy controls in Microsoft Windows were so weak for so long.

Steve Ballmer said something along the lines of if the Chinese are going to pirate software, I want it to be Microsoft software.

I’m not sure if this game has an online mode but generally speaking the network effect of online means more people playing equals a better online experience. If half those people didn’t pay, the ones who did pay still get a better online experience right?

Oh, nvm, sorry

Will this change on YouTube’s side affect Invidious instances?

Revenue per head is no doubt a sexy metric, especially for private companies. If it was a public company then investors would call for the company to try and grow its overall profits by spending more on growth related initiatives… Perhaps by releasing half-life 3 for example, lol.

The great thing about keeping your company private is that you can get it just where you like and keep it there no matter what outside parties want. I could totally see Gaben is perfectly satisfied making bank at this level while also having a chill lifestyle.

I’m on my 3rd set of Xbox one controllers. The old Xbox 360 controllers would last for years before needing new electrical components. But these new ones are just junk. I tried to resolder one but the tolerance in there now so tight that I ended up frying it… So gave up on that idea.

Baritastic is free and has a decent UI and database.

See ya in 2030 when online is ready

I used to purchase every other release of CoD to play with my son in local multiplayer split screen, but after the last MWII I’m done. I feel ripped off by this product and fear the direction is not one that I’m too interested in anymore.
