Look up the news from the past day or 2, it’s actually much more interesting than that!

The original founder (well, one of them) got the studio devs back together and bought the game back off the people he sold it to who had canned it, and now they’re back developing it.

Side note Vintage Story is rad :-D

Strange that as this is a UK news story which is particularly big for also being linked to the most gigantic game franchise in the world, I’ve not seen it mentioned in the news here at all.

I’ve only seen it pop up a few times here and there online, even.

Is it just that nobody cares, or is Rockstar buying off all the news/media companies? O.o

Yeah, I’ll never be able to afford any of that stuff, no point me even looking at it sadly.

It’s for middle class people who have piles of cash to burn :-(

Did the USA invade the UK last night and I didn’t notice?

Now, to be fair I got an early night, it was Halloween and the nutters were out in force so I popped the ol’ sleeping plugs in and nodded off, but I think I’d notice when I got up for brekkie and the yanks were marching down the road xD

I played Stardew Valley and suddenly had the overwhelming urge to kill local shopkeepers.

CoInCiDeNcE?!!?!!!??!(:'&((!:;((6_£";!(&6+:

Oooh, that’s concerning, that’s what I use. I don’t find Android particularly useable without it, the vanilla experience is pretty awful.

I do hope it’s not going away!

Vintqge Story is my favourite game :3

Americans fucking with the rest of us again? Why am I not surprised.

There’s so many good people in that country, I hope they can take down their evil fascist government and restore decency before we have to cut ties entirely to mitigate the damage they’re trying to do.

Our alliance with them is currently dying a death by a thousand cuts. Keep this up and eventually it’ll be over, sadly.

I wondered which studio would be bold enough to do blatantly insult an entire marketplace of potential customers, but it’s just some guy.

Chris Zukowski.

I am a game marketing consultant and strategist. I have helped Games-as-a-Service companies, indie publishers, and small to single-person teams understand their audience and communicate with them in a more personal way.

Funny way to communicate with your clients audience mate, calling us all “a bunch of drunken sailors”…

I specialize in optimizing your marketing for the Steam algorithm

Ah, so you’re part of the reason nothing has a soul any more. Got it.

They specifically mention this in the announcement stream and say that stuff is important for the same reason you do, so it’s all still in there, though they say they’ve also recorded new lines too. Will be interesting to hear!

So long as there’s an option to retain the normal experience, especially for those on older hardware that can’t run fancier stuff. Then it’s all good!

I don’t use Skype for business, I use it for the video calls and for the ability to have international VOIP numbers that I can ring from/to, and send texts and stuff.

Not sure what service I’ll migrate to once this is gone, I guess I’ll lose my numbers too :-(

…You want their security to be bad enough that they get hacked, so that they’d have to face repercussions for having bad security? What?

How about they just don’t have bad security and people don’t risk having their private data stolen?

Nice to know you’d sit there with popcorn watching people who just want to play video games suffer, a small price to pay for you to hurt Sony it seems, who I guess you hate for some reason.

I’ve managed to avoid finding out what the slang term skibidi means so far, somehow.

I guess it just doesn’t come up in the media I consume. Not heard Kruggsmash or Technology Connections mention it yet :-P

But yes slang aside, I’ve never enjoyed toilet humour, even as a child. Maybe because I’m very hygienic? It just disgusts me, haha. So this is good news.

I agree but also how the heck did you forget Reach! 😅

What an absolutely phenomenal single player game in the series, and absolutely fantastic multiplayer to boot! :-D

Gosh the Reach score lives rent free in my head all these years later… ♥️

Fuck Funko and fuck their shitty CEO.

Not worth thinking about any further. I wish itch.io the best in their lawsuit.

I can’t wait to see Commander Shepard, she’s gonna be bloody great!

I wonder which origin they’ll go with…

6?! They’re up to SIX? I feel like the second one only just came out the other year…

Which one was it where the USA gets invaded and the ISS gets blown up? That’s the last one I played, the concept and set pieces were very cool but the whole thing just felt too much of a repeat of the previous games, so I moved on to fresher stuff after that.

It’s still a win thankfully as you say, especially given that for me at least we’d be meeting in a European court.

Though in general I hope I never have to take valve to court, period. Honestly if that happens something REALLY bad must have gone down haha.

Like a steam deck checking its phone while driving and running over my kids or something.

When I was 15 that would have been the coolest shit!

Not to say it’s not still cool, my capacity for joy and wonder at the novelty of crossovers has just faded over time is all.

It sounds a little novel if nothing else, I hope it picks up :-)

Man, all business/capitalism/personality-politics stuff aside, it must suck to be a developer, artist, writer, actor etc on something for years, pour your heart into it for a solid percentage chunk of your remaining lifespan on this Earth, and then have it fall flat.

Especially if it’s not so much the thing you made, but stuff outside of your control that’s holding it back. Lacklustre marketing for example - I hadn’t even heard of this.

You can make any graph look bad if you control the axis bounds weirdly like this.

Not that I have good things to say about ubisoft, but at a glance one would assume their stock value plummeted to zero, which is not the case.

If it’s added as already opted in, I assume they pop something up to make it clear what’s been added and enabled, and how it affects the user’s privacy, with a link to the settings to change it if desired?

If so, that’s not too bad, no.

If they added it and didn’t make it clear, or worse yet didn’t call attention to it at all, that would piss me off.

Most of these design decisions look like they were made to make the game incredibly bland and safe for a 5 year old to play.

Are you an outlaw or are you a big cuddly bear?

Who is this made for?

Put in my application for the beta last night, and grabbed Walker Patreon today :-)

I really love the vibes of this project, as someone who loves walking and needs to walk more, and someone who struggles with ADHD, and I’ve always loved RuneScape, this project calls to me haha.

I feel like my character was getting more exercise than me back then, I remember I used to spend a lot of time at the guild coal mine (with those bats), so much time that this is seared into my memory…

Welcome to RuneScape.

You swing your pick at the rock.

That’s what you put in the next console generation, or your PC, not a console that was already released. That’s not how consoles work.

The whole point of a console Vs just building a PC is to have a homogenous ecosystem for developers to ensure that everybody has the exact same experience, because everyone has the exact same device with the same CPU, GPU, etc, across that whole generation (also allowing developers to hone their skill on that hardware over the years to get more out of it).

If you’re going to take that core benefit away, why not just build a PC at that point…

Why would you need an account to play a single player, non cloud hosted game?

This was the game where I couldn’t figure out how to fly the space ship properly, and then I went to land on a strange abandoned space station and couldn’t figure out what to do there beyond reading some alien text that didn’t make much sense, right?

I’m sure I didn’t give it a fair lick, it’s just it took up 2 hours of my time and didn’t hook or particularly engage me up to that point, so I didn’t feel like going back in and slogging through the slow burn to get to the good stuff.

That’s on me I suppose, I should try it again!

Does it pick up and get a little more interesting and robust, at least? I’m not looking for hardcore shooter action, but like, I dunno, interesting people, engaging quests and cool places to go whilst doing them, and such. Something to keep me interested, you know?

Everyone’s different, of course, walking simulators with the occasional small bit of world building text to read just aren’t for me is all.

I am going to bang on so many apartment doors until the old lady that lives inside doddles over to answer and when I hear the key rattling in that lock I will flying kick that door off the hinges, blasting her unconscious, so thar I can take everything out of her wallet and her safe.

What was that? Is she a suspect? …Suspect in what? Hey did you see my cool apartment? I can afford a new sofa now!

I’m opted out of that in my settings, it’d be quite the scandal if they were ignoring GDPR?

Hell yeah, it’s was magnificent, and the expansions were better than the OC!

What news of the Waterdhavian creatures?!
