This researchxxl person then also released a new version Synthing-Lite on fdroid.
I’m so confused by this situation. Updates to syncthing-fork have been disabled. Doesn’t seem trustworthy at the moment.

That’s a good question I dont have an answer to. Maybe there are ways to short where you can just hold, but I dont know how. Maybe there’s a way to borrow lots of RAM and GPUs, sell them, then buy them back when the price drops and sell them for cheap back to whom you borrowed. But I dont know who would make that deal.

A good friend’s grandma was missing her friends and I suggested getting her online so that she could meet other people while gaming, but the idea was rejected as she had enough trouble fighting out WhatsApp. Her daughters had to call her on Google Messenger until it was killed.
She finally died of cancer but was very happy while doing it because of the relief. No more pain, no more loneliness. I wish we could introduce gaming to more seniors. It might make their life more interesting. Then could even have a Gray League and stream themselves to other aging people.
I bet that if the people born between after 1980 get to retire, gaming will be pretty normal. Unless social media has eaten away at their brains too much. Or something greater comes along like brain to computer interfaces.
This has been a feature since at least 2012 on every Android I’ve tested and it never required google. Pixels can’t be that far behind. Since it’s advertising Google, I bet the recording feature is sending it straight to the cloud before or after writing the file locally (or writing it straight to google drive).

This is what I said
There was no documentation or guide for embedding it into
This is what you posted
If you’d like to embed Servo in your own application, consider using tauri-runtime-verso, a custom Tauri runtime, or servo-gtk, a GTK4-based web browser widget.
Great documentation and exceptional guide! 👏 What next, are you going to tell me that the code is the documentation? “Just read the code”?

So, in order to embed Servo you need:
I can’t give servo some graphical surface (OpenGL, Vulkan, Metal, DX, whatever), call a function to open a webpage and see it draw on that surface. There’s no lib with documentation on crates.io, no bindings for other languages, and non of the things I mentioned in my previous comment.
It feels like this is built just like Gecko was for Firefox: single consumer with the consumer being the “reference implementation”.

I should’ve been clearer: my misgiving is the claim of “embeddable”. If embeddable means having to read the code to find out how instead reading documentation, tutorials, and examples, nah, it ain’t embeddable. It’s possibly embeddable.
It’s like claiming NIXOS were user friendly, assembly being easy, or Arch Linux stable.

Saudi Arabia wants EA? Why?

It might become the most watched video of the UK parliament. Whether that will have any effect though, is debatable.

Hopefully these won’t end up in the ukraine war on the side of Russia 😐

The US and the West at large just thought China would stay that nice exploitable country for cheap labor forever. Their plans never adjusted to either find an alternative or move back production.
Capitalists praise “the power of the market” for being agile and whatnot, but companies (and many Western countries are being run by companies) target costs optimisation at all costs. They are like AIs with a bias for it and hyper-specialise for it. The only moves companies have are “buy the competitor” and for countries it’s just protectionism until war.
This isn’t praise for China throwing the majority of their citizens into the machine as cheap labor for Western companies, more a critique of the West’s tunnel vision. We will reap what we sowed.
Put it on peertube, maybe?

Can’t you use r2modman instead? Or does an old source mod community exist?

Oh sweet! a question then for you: can you explain what the FairPhone is missing in terms of security? Do you maybe have notes comparing it to the Pixel? As a security layman, I’m curious.

Hopefully this also means monetary investment in open source, not just open source usage without a support contract or contributing back. Matrix is a great example of an open source project that is being used by governments but struggling to get paid because governments are employing their own support staff and making internal forks.
But the more governments, agencies and individuals switch, there greater the chance they’ll pay the developers and maintainers for support or features.

Why can’t you run your own OS anymore? You don’t have to buy a Pixel. This news is about Pixel phones, one of the many many many Android phones…

You heard stuff? What stuff specifically? Care to elaborate and provide sources?

Isn’t SailFish a Russian outfit? Also, every time I’ve looked at their phones, they were either sold out or somehow unavailable. Are they still active?

Get a FairPhone with /e/OS. Give money to people who actually want to see an open ecosystem, not lock it down.
How is it possible that Huawei is the third biggest phone vendor and most apps still have trouble running without Google Services? I thought they were not able to come preloaded with Google Services for a few years and that they have many customers outside of China. Are all those customers just limited to Chinese apps?
Do they do reporting with AMD engineers? If not, AMD should be jumping on this as fast as possible.

I believe we have different definitions of slop. Slop isn’t the input to me but the output. You can get all the best ingredients to make a pie but if you mix it wrong, you get slop. Same goes for low quality input being moulded into a gem.
AI doesn’t always output slop.
And if you’re focusing on input, then all your electronics are slop. It’s almost guaranteed that child labor and exploitation was involved in collecting the resources required to build it. Your chocolate is most likely slop tooby your logic - if you bought any big brand or no name chocolate, child labor was almost certainly involved. And those children were likely also sold by their parents. There are also US products made from slaves (they call them prisoners, but is it really OK to lock somebody up for stealing a cookie and forcing them to work 8 hour days for cents per hour?) and in China Uyghurs are also forced to work unpaid. If you drink tea or coffee, boy is that all slop. The amount of land that ceded place to the large tea plantations (and let’s not get started on products with palm oil) and underpaid, overworked workers (mostly women BTW) are almost guaranteed to make that tea or coffee = slop.
