there’s plenty of reason to hate it but, to be absolutely clear, paid reddit posts are rarely conspiracy. that is a very popular method on reddit specifically. that isn’t to say that “marathon devs definitely paid people to post on reddit” etc. just to say, it’s a little difficult to immediately dismiss that as a concept when it’s so fucking common on reddit.

at this point, human beings in the games industry that aren’t VC or executives are fully devalued. i think that’s as good of a sign as ever to ditch AAA altogether and put your talents to much greater use with indie studios.

no corporation under capitalism, especially a multibillion dollar one like CAPCOM, is “Anti-AI.” GenAI is a get out of jail free card for doing what the games industry has done for years now, pushing more bloated, buggier, and blurrier games while charging more for it. it’s also great for devaluing human labour. even if it can’t replace it, doesn’t matter, that’s not the point. you lay off thousands of people, “replace their jobs with AI” and then when that inevitably doesn’t work you hire humans again for worse benefits and pay. this is enshittification, and it’s the natural process of capitalism.

i still remember this game having AI Generated assets. that’s not exactly something i can look past. how ironic that the devs were taking an environmentalists angle for the first game, now we’re here

ppl on reddit are complaining about torrents being used. it literally says it’s a temporary solution one, and two. guys idk if u know this but ppl seed torrents by having them on their devices… even if they end up dead links they can still very easily end up posted to a DDL service like pixeldrain

if you don’t want people to complain about you using AI, then don’t use AI. it’s easier than you think

if you’re going to stoop so low as to use fucking AI have the decency to show it so people with actual standards know to avoid it. but to be fair, a cat n mouse game of whether it was used or not would make me avoid it anyway

i remember pointing out that this would happen in a couple places and ppl said i was just being negative. like a live service skate game is a dead in the water idea but ppl were so starved for skate content they just didn’t listen to sense. look where they are now

the way games are going now is the way games have BEEN going. capitalism’s only purpose is infinite growth at any and all expense. this is what that looks like for gaming, bigger bigger bigger while bandaging it up with TAA and framegen and DLSS. when this house of cards tumbles, i know i will capitalise on it by not investing in the same mistakes again. but, i can only really hope that others do the same.
