cross-posted from: https://retrolemmy.com/post/36283116 Hello,

I’m finally building my PC. This is a budget build for 1080p (split), 1440p games and some 4k. I’ll be only using Linux.

I want to quickly run through you and let me know if the parts are compatible and it’s a good fit.

My budget is 150K 170k 180k Rupees. (better perf with 15% more budget 9060xt->9070xt + 7600x->9600x (x version is cheaper) + quality upgrades to other components)

I’m buying all online from computertech (they have mostly the cheapest price)

Please let me know if you seen any red flag with following build or any suggestions.

Thank you for your time.

Looks great, what’s your monitor going to be? If you use a 20 year old one with a VGA connector it will not look good no matter how powerful your PC will be. I know you said 1440p so you probably have something in mind already, but it would be meaningless with a 768p so I’m just sanity checking for you. My suggestion for a new monitor would be a 27 inch 144 Hz 1440p IPS panel, would run under 12000 INR.

I looked carefully at the PSU since it’s a brand I’m not familiar with and it’s very important. A 10 yr warranty offer sounds very confident, and they at least have a clean record for their previous PSU offerings.

If you don’t have headphones or you live with other people and worried about noise, check reviews of the CPU cooler, case, GPU and PSU for any reports of coil whine or other annoying sounds. You might easily get used to it but it’s something to avoid getting surprised by since it’s your first build.

Thank you so much for looking into it. Currently I’ve 23inch 75hz monitor. I’ll be upgrading it to 4k and I’m thinking about 9070xt instead of 9060xt since it’s almost 1.8x perf with 25k more. I want it to last at least 10yrs.

I’m currently gaming 720p on my laptop amd apu. 😅

If you’re looking for longevity, aim for a high refresh rate / low latency monitor. 240Hz now-a-days, probably. You’ll feel the frame rates more than resolution, Especially if you play faster pace games.

I made the jump to 4k some years ago and I’ve been capped at 60hz. I lose my mouse every once in a while still. If you’re priced between any monitors, 1440p is a great middle ground in exchange for a better frame rate.

Oh, and none of my peers have taken to curved monitors. I think you really have to sit in the same position to get the full effect.

Thanks, this is very helpful. I was eyeing this 27inch-wqhd-200hz IPS. Will go with it.

Yes if you’re time horizon is 10yrs, then spending 15% more for the upgrade to -70 gpu will be worth it in the short and long run and your 750W PSU will handle it just fine. There will hopefully in 2-3 years be cheaper RAM and SSDs again after the AI bubble. You will also have the opportunity to upgrade your CPU at least 2 generations forward without changing your motherboard, if you ever need to.
